this was my first ever @carissabroadbentbooks book and it did not disappoint! i actually didn’t realise that this was the fifth book in the series but the way it was written, everything was explained perfectly! the world building was incredible.

we follow our divine warrior, kyrene and our vampire prince, septimus. kyrene is probably one of my favourite female characters i’ve read about. she’s fierce, full of rage & unapologetically herself! septimus, septimus, septimus!! the vampire of all vampires. i am OBSESSED with him. he was snarky, a survivalist & sooo cunning!

a very special mention to zefiah, the sword that kyrene wields throughout this book! her sarcastic nature was one of my favourite parts of this book. zefiah was entertaining, had a slightly motherly touch whilst also being powerful!

i need the next book like immediately because the last 10% was PAIN. also, im definitely going to read the first four books very soon!! i would most definitely recommend going in blind because it enhances the reading experience!

I honestly tried to be responsible with these books… I said I’d just read a bit, then stop and go to sleep like a normal person. Yeah that didn’t happen. I ended up staying up way too late and finishing them in one go because I just couldn’t put them down💫🫠

a little reading update: i’m currently in between two books! i’ve been reading “this woven kingdom” & “the night we met”. im really enjoying both of my current reads, they’re so different but both equally interesting! 🤍

“ a journal listens without a sound- where scattered thoughts are gently found” 📜🎀✍🏽💫

in december of last year, i really got into journalling. i have consistently journaled every single day ever since! it has become my favourite way to wind down every night. there is nothing i love more than grabbing my journal & a hot drink at the end of every day & putting my thoughts onto paper! 🥹

it has been so beneficial for me. it helps clear my mind, calm my anxiety & helps me become more self aware as i reflect on the day ♡

my favourite part of journalling has been creating beautiful journal spreads. these two gorgeous spreads were created using stickers that @collectivepaperco sent me as part of a collaboration! i am in LOVE with the quality of these stickers. they are so unique and they have such a wide selection of sticker sheets! 🫶🏽

a little something to help you get through the winter blues 🩵☁️💫

i know this time of year can be so tough for some people. january tends to feel like the longest month in the world & can bring some unpleasant feelings so it’s important to make sure you’re doing little things to make the heavy days feel that little bit lighter 🤍

romanticise this month by doing the things you love. light a candle, cosy up with a book, do some journalling, get a new colouring book, do some puzzles and just slow down ✨
