Q: how did your 2026 start? Or prediction: Lullaby of the...

I managed to get almost hospitalized 2x due to my kidneys but all is good now (I'm on antibiotics and daily IV drops *le sigh) spectacular start lol! 🥰 anyways, let's dig into the review :)

-tags: fantasy,drama,romance,action,adventure,mystery
-publisher: @tokyopop

Lullaby of the Dawn by Ichika Yuno, is an ongoing fantasy BL manga, set on a small island surrounded by the Black Sea, where monsters rise every night. To protect the villagers, certain children are chosen as kannagi - warrior priests (or a shaman, if you will), who fight the sea (they can enter water), but slowly die from its corruption. Aside from typically short lives, they also undergo physical changes - their hair turns white and black stains spread across their bodies. Sadly, even though they are the protectors of the island, not everyone is welcoming towards them. Some fear, avoid or curse them.

In our story, Elva (kannegi of the West) is one of the said kannagi. He's a reserved, lonely and quiet soul, who's going trough his life with acceptance of his destiny. But then comes Alto (8 years old at the start). Alto is a loyal village boy, who's strangely drawn to Elva. Eventually, out of curiosity, he starts to visit Elva more often and sticks to him like a thistle. Think of him like a golden retriever type of character, who helps with house chores heh. What we see, in this volume, is them growing up (or more, Alto growing up..) and over time, a mysterious thing happens. Elva's kannagi corruption starts to fade, when Alto is around. Hence, this mystery becomes one of the main plot focuses.

I think readers who enjoy an original fantasy world, with some new/unique traits, will enjoy this. And the illustrations and action scenes are drawn beautifully! :)

Note: I thought I'll share a dark psychological manga rec, but I decided to change my first 2026 rec to this one. We can have more trauma heavy rec next time 👀 Or something more fluffy? Time will tell 🙂‍↕️

Hello, hello. Happy New Year, friends! ✨️

Just as majority of you, I've also made 2025 wrapped (+notes) post heh. Alas, not on 31st of Dec. I procrastinated, color me not surprised.

It's been a very tough year..years actually, and I'm probably not the only one. So, I hope that all of us will have a much better year this time. Not only for ourselves, and the closest to us, but for everyone around the world. Thank you for being here, for being kind and supportive. I'm truly grateful for all of you. In a sea of trolls, I feel extremely lucky, that I have connected to wonderful people only 🤍

I'm very glad I did not set any reading goals for myself. No pressure = happiness. I didn't register all the gazillion titles of manhwa, manhua, manga's, that I've read. But going forward, I'll try to do that more seriously. My memory is not the best, so writing down them would help.

Anyways, I've been often thinking if I'm even happy with the account look/content I have.. When I was talking to a friend of mine, I said that it's natural that a person, throughout the time, will change their reading tastes. I started with the classic - YA fantasy. You know, the popular titles that everyone and their grandma knows. Then come dark romance era. Then slight mix of different genres and now I'm here. For a long time, I've been feeling guilty and confused. Hence, not posting much. Why? Because logically, I know that I can post whatever I want but at the same time.. what if my old friends/followers.. from previous eras, will hate what I post. I mean.. free country and everyone can block, unfollow and read what they want. I support everyone's choices. Always. But weirdly, I've been hesitant to post what I truly want. I know it's super silly (first world problems).

So, going forward, I'll be more true to myself and post what I really like (wow Eli, big girl pants here lmao. No one cares). Sooo, expect to see more novel, manga, manhua, manhwa content. Even art (with credits ofc), or tv series, movies thoughts, etc. It's ok to unfollow me, truly :)

One last thing - what was your top read for 25? Or any realizations you want to share?

Again.. thank you for sticking around.
Love, Eli

There’s been a lot of drama in the book community lately, and honestly as much as I love knowing what is going on in the book world, it also stresses me the heck out 😂

So, let’s spread some kindness today by giving shoutouts to some of your favorite bookish people in the comments. Here’s a few of mine:

✨ @llrileyauthor is the kindest human and biggest cheerleader you could ever want in your corner… and an amazing author on top of that! I can’t wait to see your debut novel launch into the world 💕

✨ @reader.riss , @readingwithmurph , @storied.adventures , @shadowgirl.reads , and @bookodinnyc are some of the most consistently supportive booksta friends out there, and they have gorgeous pages too 😍

✨ @beck_michaels gave me a chance as her PA back in December, and it has seriously been life changing as it started my journey to doing author services full time. You are incredible and I am so grateful to get to work with you!!

✨All my DFW bookish girlies. You have no idea how much I look forward to our monthly meetups every single month. I know I can count on lots of laughs, bookish hot opinions, and new book recs from yall!!

Honestly there are so many amazing people I’ve met through bookstagram, so I’ll have to do more of these posts in the future to keep spotlighting some incredible humans. Y’all are awesome!!

So I decided to do this reel with the book I'm currently reading and um ...... *cough* yeah so... yeah. 😆 I thought this was supposed to be fun?? 🤣🤣
I definitely feel called out 😂 in a way this is something I often say, and something I've had to remind myself of in the past, "we are our own dragons and our own heroes" is a quote I live by 🥹

I tagged a bunch of people if they wanna try it out, no pressure though, maybe you guys will get something that's more fun 😂

What better way to make a St. Patrick’s day post by doing a green book stack challenge. I really didn’t think I had enough green books to do this challenge but my shelves proved me otherwise.

🖤 Thanks for the tag: @finalgirl.horror.reads

Tagged a few people as well, but no pressure.

••• HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

❔~ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟ ᴘʟᴀɴɴᴇᴅ ғᴏʀ ᴛᴏᴅᴀʏ?

I decided to make a special post this year for the person I love most in all the universe: 𝓂𝓎 𝓂𝑜𝓂.

I’ve been dreading today for years as it marks the day I’ll have lived longer without my mom than with her. I know it is stupid, but I guess it is a fear of starting to forget what it was to have her, that somehow she’s getting farther and farther. So yeah, just posting a little something because she is not forgotten, I still think about her all the time.

I’ll be honest, the best compliment I can get, still to this day, is hearing I look like my mom (and luckily for me, I’m her twin except for my height). She is an inspiration to me, she’s the reason I got into reading, the reason I love to craft, learned to paint/draw, why I have 1000 excel files keeping track of everything, why I got into journaling, she’s the reason I listen to music while cleaning (especially if I put the three tenors), why the smell of horses will forever bring me comfort, why I’ll always smile when I see Han Solo, the reason I can’t sing to save my life, why I bug everyone for cuddle time.

I see her in everything I do and all of that made me realize that even though you do learn to live without people, when you truly love them, they are never far away...

Love is beautiful and this is what today is all about so no matter if you celebrate Valentine’s Day or if it’s just a normal day for you, a tough one, or if you feel alone, I just want you to know that you are loved. xxx
