POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

**The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides - What a ride!** This book has been sitting on my shelf since last year. Last March, during a trip to Chennai to visit my friend and his family, I noticed his Grade 10 daughter flying through this book, having already reached the last few pages in just three days. (Meanwhile, it takes me three days to emotionally commit to Chapter One.) She described it as “entrancing” and highly recommended it. Naturally, I grabbed a copy from the airport bookstore right after hearing her praise. I started reading it right after finishing *The Housemaid*, and oh my goodness! I couldn’t put it down. It quickly went from being an “airport souvenir” to a “sleep-deprived obsession.”
This novel is not just a page-turner; it’s a slow descent into a dark, fragile, and deeply unsettling narrative. The opening pages are quiet and gentle, building an unsettling tension that left me feeling distant, as if I were standing outside a closed door, unsure of what awaited inside. As the story deepened, it pulled me in with a chilling grip I couldn’t escape. At one point, I was convinced I had unraveled the mystery, identified the killer, and thought the other characters were merely scapegoats. However, my confidence was shattered soon after. The author dismantles every assumption with chilling precision, leaving behind a silence heavier than the truth itself.
Beneath the suspense lies a painful truth about childhood—how the smallest wounds and quietest words can echo for a lifetime. The novel tenderly and hauntingly reveals how early trauma shapes fragile hearts: some individuals grow distant, retreating from love, while others ache for it desperately. Through the troubled eyes of a psychotherapist determined to solve the murder, his professional boundaries blur as he becomes emotionally entangled with his silent patient, unknowingly tied to the darkness he is trying to unravel.
Each twist tightens the knot of dread, and the ending—sudden, cold, and utterly unforeseen—leaves us breathless, haunted, and aching long after the final page is turned.

446054 by @ashishbenajay — “When the heart is full, words are less.”
This phrase resonated with me after reading this book, and I hope it will with you, too.
I bought this novel right after finishing 307.47, and it travelled with me across countries, yet I never opened it, as if the book were waiting for the right moment. That moment finally arrived during the Readathon challenge by @bookishbong , and once I began, there was no turning back. And I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you! I usually take time to sink into a story, to find its pulse. But Abhi didn’t give me that choice. He pulled me in, slowly and then all at once. I wasn’t just reading anymore—I became his Dr John Watson, walking beside him, breathing with him, sharing every emotion. We were happy, excited, then uneasy. Anxious. Afraid. And suddenly, nothing felt certain.
The novel plays dangerous games with the mind. At first, it feels warm—almost like a family story. Then, without warning, the shadows creep in, and it turns dark… disturbing… terrifying. When you think you’ve understood it, the story shifts again—into a crime thriller—leaving you whispering to yourself, “Oh God! Seems like my mind must be playing games with me again.”
This is a must-read psychological thriller that messes with your thoughts long after you close the book. To truly feel the fear and the confusion, and the brilliance of the mind games—start with Part One: 307.47. Only then will you realise how cleverly your own mind has been deceiving you all along.

Lilly Bernard by Sreeparvathy - I was thrilled to come across SreeParvathy’s writing through “Poetic Killer.” That instant admiration made me choose Lilly Bernard effortlessly! I picked up this book on the 14th of August last year, from the DC Books stall at the Kochi Domestic Terminal.I couldn’t bring myself to read this book whenever I opened it, as my PTSD overwhelmed me after learning of my best friend’s passing that same evening. Even though I miss her every single day, I finally found the strength to finish the novel. This captivating novel explores the unsettling murder of an actress, skillfully investigated by the sharp and brilliant police chief, Derick John. The blend of medical intrigue and psychological suspense creates a web of tension and suspicion with nearly every character except for Derick. Each chapter deepens the mystery, prompting us to question the motives and trust no one. While a few moments in the novel slow things down, the opening grip hooks you from the start, and the final twist strikes unexpectedly, turning everything you thought you knew upside down. Although some pages are thrilling, the slow pacing makes the book feel tedious and discourages continued reading. But this jaw-dropping climax heightens the suspense and leaves readers eagerly flipping the pages to find out what happens next!

“Ente Arumayaya Pakshikku” by Jisma Faiz

This novel has pierced my heart and still holds it tightly, allowing me to feel all the emotions that Nandhan and Aisha experienced. I discovered this book at Crossword while browsing the shelves, and the title caught my attention, prompting me to grab it without a second thought. I began reading it two weeks ago.
As the author states, it is our destiny to find love, and somehow, we usually do. However, not everyone gets to keep their love throughout their lives. Some endure separation but still continues to love each other deeply. For them, even those fleeting moments become precious treasure that sustain joy and hope. In this poignant story, Nandhan and Aisha fall in deeply love, but fate intervenes and separates them, yet they continue to love each other throughout their lives. Although the separation is heart wrenching, it makes their love even more beautiful. The memories they created together bring joy, and those joyful moments are always cherished.
As fate distances them again, we readers are left shattered. It’s been a long time since I read a romantic novel that I found so compelling. I took it with me in my tote bag everywhere I went, eager to read atleast a page whenever I had the time. The lingering essence of their enduring love has made this my favorite love story, filling me with hope and enthusiasm for love’s enduring nature.

I Don’t Love You Anymore: Moving On and Living Your Best Life by Rithvik Singh
Poetry was never really my thing. The only poems I had ever read were the ones from my school days—classics by William Wordsworth, Robert Frost, and Shakespeare. But this book was different. After a routine 3-month successful review at the hospital, I decided to treat myself. I went to Crossword to celebrate and, while browsing for a new read, this book caught my eye. Something about the title, perhaps a whisper of my own experiences, pulled me in. Without a second thought, I bought it, and I am so glad I did.
Being a deeply romantic person, these poems touched my soul. Rithvik Singh captures the essence of love, loss, and loneliness with such raw honesty. His words echo the truth that love doesn’t just come from a romantic partner; it comes from friends, family, parents, and siblings. And when we lose someone we love, the pain can be so intense, so consuming, that it leaves us hollow.
I recently lost my best friend, and reading this book felt like reading my own mind. Every suppressed emotion, every quiet ache in my heart found its voice through these poems. They made me feel seen, understood, and painfully human.
What struck me most was how Singh captures the guilt of distance—the way we carry the love of our parents and siblings in our hearts, even as life pulls us away from them. He also explores that unbalanced kind of love: when you give your all but don’t receive the same in return. That quiet heartbreak is so rarely acknowledged, but he brings it to light beautifully.
His poetry made me restless. It was as if he had looked into my heart and written about my mental state, about how love can be so cruelly persistent. Even when we’ve decided to let go, love finds its way back in, like a single dew drop on a sunflower field—making us smile again, believe again, and ache all over again.
This book isn’t just a collection of poems. It’s a mirror for anyone who has loved, lost, or longed. It’s sad, romantic, and profoundly emotional and for me, unforgettable.
