![genesis: The act of producing, or giving birth or origin to anything […] 🕯️
@iuigenesismagazine has been such a violently fulfilling journey throughout my undergraduate career. From my first publication credit in our AWARD WINNING 2024 issue, to my second publication and my apprenticeship credit in our AWARD WINNING 2025 issue, to the publication of this year’s issue as a Senior Editor- genesis has filled and fueled my desire and passion for editing and has helped nurture relationships with others and their work with extreme care and support. ✨
Undergrad has challenged me to operate within my own philosophy of revision both in and out of the literary sphere; genesis has been a load bearing thread in the tapestry I’m weaving through this season of change. I am a better peer, student, editor, and author because of genesis and our spectacular staff.
I will forever cherish meetings with our fearless leaders @savwilliamss & @_sophiafoster, keeping nauseating secrets from our friends with @bookswithvega (because why can’t we scream and cry with them about their accomplishments immediately?!), squealing when our cover was chosen to be my sweet friend @scarletjulart ‘s art, and everything in between the final product of seeing my friends’ & peers’ work printed and bound in their hands with childlike bliss stretching their cheeks. I am a better person because of my sweet baby genesis. 🌀
