Celebrated one thousand posts this week!

When I started this account, I wasn’t thinking ahead to my next post, let alone my thousandth. I shared my first book review because I was looking for a space online to talk about books (knowing my friends were probably sick of seeing them on my personal account, ha!) and I had never even heard the term “Bookstagram.”

I certainly never anticipated that talking about books here would become such a meaningful part of my life. This account has introduced me to novels that have shaped my worldview, nonfiction that has blown my mind, and, most importantly, deep friendships and a genuine sense of community.

To celebrate this milestone, I’m looking back at some of the books that made me the reader I am today—of which, of course, there are many.

I’d love to hear about a few of the books that made you the reader you are today. 🤍

Long before I was reviewing books on the internet, I was the child surrounded by them. In fact, the mom of a preschool friend we regularly carpooled with would happily announce, “Here comes Abigail and her traveling library!” as I teetered toward her car carrying a tote nearly as large as my four-year-old body, filled to the brim with books.

These are some of the stories I remember requesting again and again, reading under the covers, checking out from the library, and carrying with me into the next stage of my reading life.

These were the books that introduced me to analyzing stories and looking beyond the plot—and, alongside my amazing teachers, helped me realize that talking about a book could be almost as much fun as reading it.

My teenage reading taste contained multitudes: boarding-school drama, vampires, dystopian survival, emotional devastation, and plenty of very questionable adolescent decision-making.

These are the books and series I returned to repeatedly—and honestly, I do not especially need to know how most of them would hold up now.

GONE GIRL was my gateway into dark, twisty, psychologically sharp mysteries and stories about complicated women. I remember exactly where I was when I reached that moment in the plot: sitting on a tattered, sand-filled gray couch in the living room o

June in the margins: a few books, a few bites, a few bookstore moments, and one big (ahem, Whistler shaped) reminder that reading is supposed to be fun.

This month felt like a reset in the best way, and I’m carrying that energy into July by following my whims, making my own rules, and adding a little extra joy to the stack. Swipe through for the last 30 days in books & bits. What was your favorite June read? 🩵📚👓
