Dear Everyone,

Parallel looks forward to sharing our first exhibition with you !

As this is an independent initiative of our young designer collective, any help you could offer would go a long way in making this debut as exciting as possible !

All contributions go towards the space we present in, the curation of our works and the quality of experience for our guests.

The link to our GoFundMe can be found in our bio💙
From all the members of Parallel, a massive thank you for your continued interest and support !

“I want to pull back the inauthentic, plastic-y sheen that the overly-conceptual studies at Design Academy Eindhoven have wrapped my work in. It is my journey back into themes I really care about. My return to genuine design.”

IN SEARCH OF FUNCTION I LOST FORM by Bora

“Note to future Bora,

Countless hours of thinking, debating, processing and stressing have led to nothing but half-assed ideas and a very deluded Bora.

To this day, the projects you had the most passion for and success with were those without neither function nor necessity, but frankly I am not sure how this will hold up in the cold hearted world.

In search of function, people will demand answers to questions you haven’t answered yet. Don’t let them deform you, understand that success is what you aim to accomplish, not them.

Kind Regards,
Past Bora”

“In Search of Function I Lost Form” delves into what Akal believes real success to be, melting away the conformity to function and reacquainting himself with the passion he had lost somewhere along the way.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice,
These were the ingredients chosen
To create the perfect designer.
But Professor Utonium accidentally
Added an extra ingredient to the concoction:
Chemical Vibes.
Thus, Bora Akal was born.
Using his ultra-super design powers:
Material experimentation, contemporary solutions, and a genuine approach
He has dedicated his life to fighting throw away design
And the forces of bad aesthetics.
