Your local Nando’s is secretly part of one of the biggest collections of South African art in the world. So of course they partnered with @154artfair . Three artists I can’t stop thinking about: Fred Mutebi, Ibrahim Khatab and Seyni Awa Camara #nandos #londonart #artexhibitionlondon #londonartgallery #africanart

OPENS TODAY: 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair 2026 💫 @154artfair returns to Somerset House for its 14th consecutive London edition and its most significant evolution to date. Alongside the fair, 1-54 Presents will return with West Wind, a curated exhibition by art historian and researcher Nancy Dantas. Inspired by the 1966 song and epithet for African unity, the exhibition brings together with the work of pioneering modern artists from across Africa. This vision also becomes tangible in several booths built entirely around women artists, demonstrating the undeniable impact women have had on African art through the modern and post-modern periods until today. reposted from @dakartnews 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — 𝐀𝐫𝐭 + 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 Issue 60.2 The Recurrent 𝐖𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 Honoured to share DakArtNews’ latest contribution to Art + Australia, the country’s longest-running art journal. A generation of artists are turning to memory — not as nostalgia, but as a way to reshape the present and reclaim fractured histories. Featuring five powerful voices from West & Central Africa: 👉🏾Romuald Hazoumè 👉🏼Tidiane Ndongo 👉🏼 Alexandre Kyungu Mwilambwe 👉🏼Roméo Mivekannin 👉🏾Modou Dieng Yacine Their practices draw on materials marked by violence, migration & resilience — from jerrycans and bogolan to rubber and colonial portraiture — transforming them into living archives that challenge global inequalities. With insights from art critic Hafida Jemni di Folco, whose reflections on memory, hybridity & translation frame the discussion. What emerges is not only a geography of trauma, but one of reinvention — a cartography where African artists reclaim the right to name, map & narrate their own histories. 🔗 Full article in Art + Australia, Issue 60.2 — The Recurrent Link in bio / artandaustralia.com . . . . . . . . . . #artist #congoleseartist #hosfeltgallery #rubber #artlight #motif #nzoloko #scarification #interactiveart #akkaproject #rubber #map #migration #alexandrekyungumwilambwe #akkaproject #dakartnews #artist #artwork #artnewsafrica #artnet #artpress
