The best UK hotel opening of the year and now possibly the best luxury hotel in London. Hidden away in Fitzrovia @thenewmanlondon is paving the way for a new level of design and service with management brilliantly led by @kinsfolkandcompany - the wellness space takes up an entire floor featuring four treatment rooms with @kloris.co @nuoriskincare @mossoftheisles as treatment brands along with a @technogym gym. Brasserie Angelica sits on the ground floor and opened on 1 February 2026, serving breakfast through to late dinner, seven days a week. It has its own entrance on Newman Street; it means the restaurant runs as a restaurant, not as a hotel annex. The room is spacious and bright, with a leather banquette down the window and illustrations of local characters by Nils Jean stitched along the walls. The menu leans towards modern British and European with a Scandinavian current running through it. I asked GM @londonhoteloliver ‘What sets The Newman apart from other luxury London hotels?’ ‘The location we have, the independent feel and the design are the initial things that set us apart from other properties, along with the welcome and the team. I would like us to be known as the hotel with the greatest team’ Delighted to be contributor and Travel Editor for the 2026 Annual from @dossiermagazinesa ⭐️ My room 401 held its own small pleasures and attention to detail. Beautiful bed with mattress from @naturalmatuk - Warm neutrals, wooden panels, curved edges, textured art, smooth Swaledale stone lining the bathroom walls and a wonderful, large, curved shower. Heated towel rails, flannels and plenty of big fluffy towels and bathrobes go hand in hand with the generosity of spirit here. The minibar is a feast for the senses: CBD sleep patches and sprays from British brand @kloris.co , anatomē bath and body products, @anatomelondon essential oils, and a run of independently made British snacks and drinks. There are books beside the bed, carefully chosen rather than props. Location, location, location. The Newman sits almost exactly between Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho, which is to say at the centre of the most walkable part of London. Goodge Street is four minutes

The Newman, London’s latest newcomer (with bar, restaurant and spa) was built from scratch (literally from a demolition site, with three floors dug down below ground) and Lind + Almond @lind_almond designed the interiors. The studio’s research is the kind that rewards a slow walk through the building. The bathroom basins reference the bubbled balcony of Shropshire House next door; the tiles borrow from the Victorian glazed brick of the Langham Court Hotel. The patterned flooring and several handcrafted furnishings draw on Nancy Cunard, the Fitzrovian socialite and collector who wore stacked African bangles up both arms. The art works on the same principle. Pieces by Christopher Brown, Marcel Garbi and Sandhills Studios run through the public spaces, black and white photographs of local streets by Rory Langdon-Down hang in the corridors, and the larger suites carry pieces by Louise Roe and 3 Dot Furniture, with watercolours by Freddie Darke and Georgie Bennett appearing in the right places. Whoever sourced it has been to the artists’ studios. The rooms and suites have a palette of neutral tones, curved edges to the joinery, baths walled top to bottom in Swaledale stone. The mini bar takes itself seriously, not just sweets and crisps: anatomē scents and essential oils, @kloris.co CBD sleep patches and sprays, well-chosen British snacks and drinks. The books beside the bed have clearly been carefully handpicked reflecting Fitzrovia and its history, rather than bought by the metre. The bath and body products throughout The Newman are anatomē, @anatomelondon the British essential-oil house (with a shop around the corner). The bed is from @naturalmatuk organic and handmade, and set inside double-layered blackout blinds. I had the kind of sleep central London hotels try to deliver and seldom do. Which means I actually had a lie-in! 💤 Wellness takes up an entire floor with four treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, ice lounge, gym and medical grade halo therapy salt room. @thetimes has already named it hotel of the year and we’re only in July! #lulusluxurylifestyle #lululoves #hotelreview #luxurytravelblog

Wellness at @thenewmanlondon takes up an entire floor! and features a @technogym (the best). ‘Inspired by the timeless principles of the Swedish Grace movement, our wellness philosophy is rooted in simplicity, balance, and restoration’ The spa includes hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, halotherapy salt room, ice lounge and an experience shower. They have my favourite brand @kloris.co (their Discovery Set is the best for travel) the science-led restorative brand along with; Nuori: A Scandinavian clean beauty brand, exclusive to The Newman. @nuoriskincare Moss of the Isles: A brand using active, natural ingredients from around the UK and Ireland. @mossoftheisles - the body oils are wonderful 💜 The four treatment rooms have extra wide, heated beds.. and unlike many other London hotel spas the wellness floor is open to non-residents too.. Very possibly! and certainly the best new hotel opening in 2026… @thenewmanlondon has got all of the little details right.. a mini bar with @kloris.co sleep products, 💤 with double black out curtains, plenty of fluffy towels and flannels, @anatomelondon products in the spacious bathroom (the shop is around to the corner if you want to buy any) - large, oh so comfortable organic mattresses from @naturalmatuk, plenty of light and a curated selection of books in the room. And what a stunning new hotel it is. Fitzrovia finally has a stunning 5 star hotel, spa and restaurant to shout about. @thenewmanlondon is not only beautiful in design it’s beautiful in so many ways. The staff @kinsfolkandcompany are the standout for me. Real people, some with exceptional credentials, others with no hospitality background. All are authentic, not too polished and passionate about the hotel (many have been here months before opening). Managed by @londonhoteloliver the hotel runs seamlessly, but not in a contrived way like many luxury hotels in London. There’s an organic, natural flow to things here, perhaps because designers @lind_almond have created a calm and grounded space with a muted colour palette of browns and beiges - honestly? Not usually my thing but somehow here in the heart of Fitzrovia works. And threads of Fitzrovia can be seen throughout the rooms with books on local artists and characters, designs taken from nearby iconic buildings, and tiles capturing Fitzrovia’s creative flair. 24hours @thenewmanlondon is quite frankly nowhere near long enough. London’s best new boutique hotel is full of careful, understated consideration, thoughtful touches abound and a beautiful new restaurant in @brasserieangelica too. Oh and we can’t forget @gambitbarlondon for subterranean martinis - it always feels like martini time there. The spa- the gorgeous spa! The wellness minibar 🌟 And for post-renovation tile geeks, we see you- bathrooms are nothing short of works of art. Thank you to @kinsfolkandcompany for the generous stay. Day out in the beautiful Essex countryside in the Woodlouse to the @geedongallery for the start of their ‘Artists of Today and Tomorrow’ exhibition where @dinah1613 has a couple of paintings. Then we popped over to the @the_company_shed on Mersea Island for a spot of lunch. The 45 minute wait for the tide to subside so we could get onto the island sharpened our appetite nicely!
