@houseofhosono performing his Nashville version of “Body Snatchers” @radiocitymusichall on 9/16/26.

The original song is a 1984 synthy sci-fi soliloquy where a robot grapples with his feelings for a woman, but hearing the lyrics in our modern context gives a more chilling warning about the dangers of humanity’s lust for AI dependence, the opening lyrics echoing:

//If you can hear me now
//You’d better listen to my warning
//She’ll try and fool you with her sweet talk
//But all the while she’s scanning

While Hosono, 79, said his recent pacemaker replacement would temper the tempo of this show, I enter this contrary video evidence as exhibit A.

@houseofhosono opening his show @radiocitymusichall with “O.K.” from Yellow Magic Orchestra’s 1993 album Technodon.

Chikara Kasahara addressed the audience before the show saying that Hosono recently had an emergency surgery and initially they were unsure if they’d be able to perform their two shows in the USA.

Ultimately Haruomi wanted to do it, but he had some medical limitations and would not be able to play above a certain tempo. What unfolded was one of his most unique shows to date, performing songs from across six decades with an amazing mix of musicians.

From the opening song, I could tell this night was going to be special.
