Good morning🖤

Some Leonard Cohen & Blondie for you today on Day 5 of my thyroid becoming a 🦋 & flying away.

Cleveland Adams, Boschie & I (Pic 2) definitely look like something from the Addams Family today 🙀😸

“Children show scars like medals. Lovers use them as a secrets to reveal. A scar is what happens when the word is made flesh.” - Leonard Cohen

Lynn Hershman Leeson @lynn.l.leeson giving a reflective and generous talk last night at the @whitneymuseum on her 60+ year art career, in conjunction with the publication of her memoir ‘Private I’ (which I, and it seems my cat too, cannot wait to dive into).

Two of my favorite quotes from the talk:
“Gestation has provided me with an advantage, time. And time has allowed me to reflect on these works unencumbered by constraints.”

“I can hear my giggling machine having the last laugh.”

Time plus a sense of humor multiplied by profound prescience equals the incomparable Lynn Hershman Leeson ✨

The “Summer Yard Crew” — NYU IDM students @sohini.r.p, @ggui_1529 , @puafarm and me, plus creative direction from @boschie2025 — gathered in my studio yesterday to transform XR headsets into ceremonial objects, each rooted in personal heritage and imaginative play. Rather than streamlined, frictionless tech, we crafted devices as sculptural masks for crossing thresholds into other realities.
Pua’s design channels Hawaiian warrior helmets; Caroline’s presents a stage set of moss, flowers, and theatrical ornament; Sohini’s, a hand-crocheted crown graced with a maang tikka; and mine, a reliquary of seashells and petals, with conch shells as portals for listening. Together, these headsets propose a future where wearable technology is not just an interface, but a living, cultural artifact. @nyutandon @idmnyu #wwwunderkammer #cassandra

Pics from a roadtrip to my home state of North Carolina with my two loves, Cleveland @landocliffs and Boschie the Brooklyn cat @boschie2025 — his first trip down south 😻to meet his feline & human fam.

It was wonderful spending time over the past week with family and friends, from Creedmoor (Mom, Dad, + cats Cleo & Junior) to Marion, specifically “Mountain Chase” (home of K, T, V, L & R …iykyk 💖) then to Valle Crusis and Sugar Grove (cousin visit:) and more…🐈 🌳 ⛰️ 🐈‍⬛ 🌺 🐄

“On the internet, no one knows you’re a cat.” - Internet

I am thrilled as a cat on catnip to be included, with so many artists I admire: @manfredemohr , @sashastiles , @azelinskie , #OnKawara, #VeraMolnar, #LawrenceWiener, #JosephKosuth #SolLewitt … (only to name a few), in the exhibition “The Mirror Effect” curated by Lara Pan and opening THIS Friday, July 11th.

To celebrate 60 years of the pioneering collective Art & Language, the Château de Montsoreau – Museum of Contemporary Art is the host of this landmark exhibition, on view from July 11 to November 3, 2025.

About my work in the show: “One and Three Cats” (2018/2025) reimagines Joseph Kosuth’s conceptual landmark “One and Three Chairs” through the lens of internet culture. Kosuth’s original chair is replaced by a cat—a figurine, a black-and-white photo of the figurine, and an irreverent Urban Dictionary definition—highlighting the feline as one of the internet’s most iconic symbols. This miniature installation interrogates the shifting nature of meaning and representation in the age of digital semiotics. While Kosuth questioned the nature of representation in the gallery, I extend that inquiry into the digital commons, where signs and signifiers endlessly replicate like internet memes. Additionally, by enclosing the cat within a transparent box, I subtly reference Schrödinger’s cat, playfully layering questions about virtuality, visibility, and whether meaning itself can simultaneously exist in multiple states.
