Elizabeth Gross’ conversation with Greg Cummings at Bo’s Effort showed why mental health care truly takes a village.

Through its long partnership with Anne Arundel Medical Center, the mission has helped support care across many parts of the journey, from children in crisis to nurse education, inpatient care tools, trusted resources, and future support for families who need help.

For home improvement leaders, health care partners, and community members, this story is a clear reminder that giving matters most when it turns into action, and that real care grows when families, donors, hospitals, volunteers, sponsors, and local partners choose to carry the work together.

Molly Fleenor’s conversation with Greg Cummings at Bo’s Effort showed how community giving can become real care when purpose is matched with trusted partners.

Since 2015, the mission has helped raise more than $500,000 to support mental health services at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, turning family purpose, volunteers, sponsors, and community support into programs and care that can help people facing mental health and addiction needs.

For home improvement leaders and community partners, this story is a reminder that awareness matters most when it leads to action, and that strong missions grow when the right people work together to help others find care.

Adam Hordell’s conversation with Greg Cummings at Bo’s Effort showed why strong partnerships often grow from something deeper than business alone.

After four or five years of attending, Adam pointed to the family, the organization, the cause, and the trust behind the event as the reasons people keep coming back.

For home improvement leaders and business partners, this conversation is a reminder that lasting support is earned when people feel part of something real, believe in the mission behind it, and see shared values in action year after year.

Johnny DePaola’s conversation with Greg Cummings at Bo’s Effort showed what happens when a community keeps choosing to support a mission year after year.

After 11 years, the event continues to grow because golfers, sponsors, volunteers, board members, family, friends, and supporters keep showing up for Bo’s story and the larger work around mental health awareness.

For home improvement leaders, this is a strong reminder that culture is not only what a company says inside its walls. It is what people see when a family business serves its community, supports a cause, and treats every home it touches with the same care it gives to the people it loves.

Some of the strongest stories in home improvement are not only about growth, scale, or market leadership. They are about family, memory, and the choice to turn personal loss into care for others.

At Bo’s Effort, Adam Silverman shared how the DePaola and Long Home family continue to honor Bo DePaola through a mission that supports local mental health care, Scholarships for Scholars, and young students who may one day serve others in the mental health field.

What makes this story powerful is how personal it is. Adam never had the chance to meet Bo, yet Bo’s memory continues to shape the family, the company, and the community around them.
For home improvement leaders, this conversation is a reminder that real impact often begins with a story close to home, and when that story is carried with pride, it can reach far beyond one event.

Saturday’s @namiaacounty @namiaac Gala was another touching night.

it was inspiring to hear how NAMI-AAC helped shaped @aacoexec policy, updates from @boseffort & @walkbyfaithconsulting story of hope.

Loved that our buds (& SYT contributors) @anitahaganartist /@openeyegalleryarundellodge & @sthomas1225 were recognized for their work as advocates.

It was great to connect with my colleagues from my time at the crisis response center & fellow NAMI board members (who are still helping in the community).

Also happy that the SYT basket (filled with homemade pasta & other 🇮🇹 treats) did pretty well in the silent auction.

@speakyourtruthcrew is proud to have been birthed from NAMI-AAC. The organization has grown so much since @catalystnumber5 & I were there, but they’re still focused on grassroots change & service.

Spectacularly gorgeous day at @queenstownharbor to raise money & awareness for #mentalhealth . @boseffort put on a top tier event.

@catalystnumber5 & I were with @namiaacounty to see how the DePaola first turned their pain into action. It’s incredible how their organization has grown & helped fund mental health services & awareness. Lots that @speakyourtruthcrew can learn from them.

Nice day for me to catch up with my cousins, aunt & uncle on the course. We played pretty well, but the scenery won the day.

Honored to get to wear these cleats for the NFL’s #MyCauseMyCleats. Two organizations that are so close to our family’s heart. Can’t thank @mache275 enough for how great they came out and the awesome personal touch

Today I get to represent two causes that are close to my family’s heart. @boseffort which helps to break the stigma of mental illness and @join1love which helps to end relationship abuse. Can’t thank the @nfl enough for allowing us to highlight such special causes that are making a difference everyday

Thank you for having me @greatdaywash ☀️💙 always a privilege to sit beside @kristenberset and @ellenbryan and share about @boseffort

🦋 Bo, thanks for giving me the words that people need to hear and the strength to say them out loud. WE MISS YOU! 🥹

Happy + grateful to be talking openly with our community about mental health, especially during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Never give up on yourself or the people you love. Ask questions and fight for the right treatment and support. It might take time, but it is out there.

You are not alone! 🦋💙🙏🏼
