Warm metals are reshaping the language of contemporary luxury interiors. From brushed brass and aged bronze to patinated finishes, metal is becoming warmer, more tactile and increasingly architectural.

Inside this Material Edit, we explore how designers are using metallic finishes to create depth, character and a new sense of understated luxury.

Luxury is losing its shine — and gaining character.

In contemporary interiors, highly polished finishes are giving way to brushed brass, aged bronze and metals with visible texture and patina. This warmer material language brings depth to a space without relying on overt glamour.

A richly layered interior by @hannespeer captures the shift towards materials that feel tactile, expressive and made to evolve over time.

What happens when metal moves beyond decoration and becomes architecture?

@Nordstudioberlin demonstrates how bronze-toned surfaces can define an entire spatial experience. Walls, stairs and architectural details become part of one continuous material language, allowing light and shadow to reveal the depth of the finish.

Metal is no longer simply an accent. It can shape the space itself.

#NordStudio #MetalArchitecture #BronzeDesign #InteriorArchitecture #MaterialDesign

Warm metals become even more powerful when placed against contrasting materials.

In this BRABBU interior, metallic finishes meet tactile upholstery, wood and layered textures, creating a warmer and more dimensional expression of contemporary luxury.

The key is not more shine. It is the balance between texture, temperature and material depth.

Imperfection gives metal its character.

The CAY Console by @brabbu explores the expressive potential of cast brass through an organic, highly textured surface. Light moves differently across every irregularity, transforming the console into something that feels almost geological.

Here, craftsmanship becomes part of the a Luxury interior by Humbert & Poyet featuring a sculptural white boucle armchair, warm brass lighting and tables, dark marble and rich wood finishes. The beauty of stillness.

Sculpted stone, warm walnut, and soft light unfolding across the room.

A quiet dialogue between material, form, and the experience of inhabiting a space.

An atmosphere felt, rather than simply seen.

Rust-red walls, mustard velvet and sculptural walnut forms set the tone within the One Five Fields Square Penthouse, designed by Bryan O’Sullivan Studio.

In the living area, curved sofas face one another, joined by antique Gio Ponti armchairs that lend the space a sense of history. Above, an ochre coffered ceiling features a hand-painted floral mural by Beth Rodway.

Beyond, a bespoke dining table is paired with Hamrei chairs and statement red ceramic pendants by The New Craftmaker.

Within the Penthouse, Bryan O Sullivan Studio have combined bold, contemporary design and collected antiques masterfully, creating a home shaped by craftsmanship and with a distinctive point of view.

Our managing editor, @melissa_in_oside, just returned from Oʻahu and a visit to the newly reimagined Ka Laʻi Waikīkī Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts. @kalaiwaikikibeachlxr / @lxrhotels

Fresh from a $100 million transformation, the Waikīkī property pairs contemporary Hawaiian design with sweeping Pacific views, residential-style accommodations, new dining experiences, and a setting that feels surprisingly removed from the energy just beyond its doors.

Coming soon to Ocean Home, Melissa shares a closer look at the transformation and a few highlights from her visit.

A play of sculptural curves, rich timber and unexpected reflections.

The back gallery reveals itself through a beautiful interplay of form and material. Bryan O’Sullivan Studio’s sculptural armchair brings a distinctive silhouette to the room, its supple grey leather wrapping around polished metal in a continuous curve, with generous cylindrical arms and a beautifully rounded seat.

Róisín Lafferty’s Mira Circle Mirror captures another perspective of the space, reflecting the Jud Wall Lamps by Draga & Aurel, represented by Artemest. Their geometric brass frames and translucent coloured glass appear within the generous circular form, creating an intriguing composition of light, shape and reflection. Handcrafted in Ireland and framed in satin lacquered brass, Mira forms part of Róisín’s debut mirror collection.

The expressive hardwood grain of Jorge Zalszupin’s Pétalas Coffee Table introduces a richness of colour and natural pattern. Crafted in Brazil by L’Atelier circa 1975, its sculpted, petal shaped sections radiate from the centre, each revealing the remarkable movement and depth of the timber.
