Andover dining room details.

With sprawling windows as the backdrop, we wanted this space to feel warm, cozy and inviting—not a dining room reserved just for the holidays. With twin baby boys and a dog in the mix, it needed to be as welcoming for everyday family life as it is for special occasions. 📸 @marinaporl

My love of maps began with one of the first maps I did of Plymouth, MA.
This is a small map painted with glaze on a 12x12 porcelain panel and fired in my kiln.
I picked a creamy tone of the tile to look like parchment and did a black and soft bluegreen glaze for my colors.
On the wish list was the Mayflower, Gurnet light, and Duxbury bay to name a few. #tiles #interiordesign #shower #bath #kitchen

Until now, I’ve mostly photographed things that I had already framed in my mind. I would see something, observe it, compose it in my head, and then take the shot. In a way, the photograph happened twice, once in my mind, and then again when I clicked the shutter.

But over time, I realized that there are also many moments where I’ve simply clicked without thinking too much about the frame. And later, when I’m back home going through the photographs, I sometimes find something in those random shots - a small detail, a feeling, or a story that I didn’t notice when I took them.

Sharing a few of those moments.

More than a century of history. And plenty of life still ahead.

Throughout the living spaces of this historic oceanfront property, the past wasn’t something to design around—it became part of the inspiration.

Working alongside Taste Design Inc., original details like the home’s stained-glass windows helped shape a palette of soft teals, layered with tailored millwork, reclaimed wood, richly textured fabrics, collected furnishings, and moments of pattern that give each room its own personality. Even the ceilings join the conversation, with wallpaper carried overhead in the study for an unexpected layer of character.

And that matters, because these aren’t spaces designed simply to be admired. They’re designed for the family traditions that fill a home with life—holidays, wine tastings, game nights, other countless celebrations.

Because the goal isn’t simply to build a beautiful home. It’s to build one that remains exceptional for generations.

"I love to ask clients, 'What do you love?' That question prompts so many dreams about the house. It opens up the narrative and the emotion behind why they love this home, and then we can start to make some of those dreams come true."

Featured @bostondesignguide, a first look at Ocean Wind Estate, a historic oceanfront home in coastal Rhode Island reshaped for the way the family lives today. More to come.

// Boston City Hall, Boston, MA
Architects: Kallmann, McKinnell & Knowles | 1969
.
.
I have always found Boston City Hall interesting because it feels so different from the rest of Boston. Surrounded by the city’s brick-and-stone architecture, its raw concrete, deep shadows, bold geometry, and monumental form immediately stand apart.

Brutalism is often judged by its appearance, but the original idea behind Boston City Hall was much more than its concrete façade. Designed by Kallmann, McKinnell, and Knowles, the building was conceived as an open and democratic civic building—one that could represent accessibility, transparency, and a modern government.

Standing in front of it, I found myself drawn less to the debate over whether it is beautiful or ugly, and more to the way the architecture creates such a strong presence. The concrete, the cantilevered forms, the changing shadows, and the relationship between the building and the plaza make it feel undeniably monumental.

Whether one finds it beautiful, imposing, or simply unusual, it is difficult to ignore. For me, that presence is what made it worth photographing.

The view was always there. The kitchen just needed to find it.

In this historic oceanfront home, the original kitchen was tucked away from the water. The homeowners had one request: they wanted to cook while enjoying the view.

Instead of expanding the existing space, the team reimagined how the home could function. The former dining room became the new kitchen, bringing panoramic water views into everyday life, while the original kitchen became a serving space designed for entertaining behind the scenes.
Simple idea. Complex execution.

Together with Taste Design Inc., every detail—from window proportions and exterior elevations to trim and custom millwork—was carefully considered, so the new kitchen felt completely at home within the original architecture.

It’s the kind of work that reflects how we approach every renovation: respect the architecture, design for the way our clients want to live, and make every new detail feel like it belongs.
