We made the ferry going home…. Tearing down and going home so much more uneventful than yesterday morning. Thank god for all my fibre friend that helped me setup. I lost my two hour setup time as the ferry canceled at 7 when we’re were already there to cross. We got to Woolstock at 11:35 and doors opened at 12. They had me setup and ready to go before the doors opened. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the fibre world is the best!!!! As small business we lift each up and we’re there for each other no questions asked.

i made some socks this summer! i tried the heel construction from Kate Atherley’s book & they’re an improvement from my previous pairs, but i’m still hunting the perfect fit 🐠

notes:
- pattern is from Kate Atherley’s Custom Socks
- yarn is @botanicalfibres for the MC, @coastalyarnscb for the CC
- construction is shortened heel flap & gusset
- cost: $14 CAD (MC was traded for at my friend Bee’s yarn swap & pattern was rented from my local library)

Now that I've gifted it, I can officially share the stunning Iso shawl that I knit for my coworker who is retiring today 💜

I don't want to go into too much detail because I'll end up in a puddle of tears, but my coworker had a really big impact on me over the past 7 years and I'm really going to miss her. She made me feel welcome from my very first day at work and showed me that I was joining a team of fun, silly, and caring staff. Special libraries tend to employ special people 🥰

I knew I wanted to knit something really heartfelt for her and after trying multiple yarn and pattern combos, I was gifted The Iso pattern by the designer @akanoraknits and it felt like a sign. I used two very special stash yarns that I know my coworker would love because they are Nova Scotian yarns that are hand dyed her favourite shade of purple with natural materials by @botanicalfibres

This yarn and pattern combo was so perfect and an absolute JOY to knit from start to finish. I worked so much love into every stitch and my coworker loves it! The colour is so perfectly her and the combo of BFL and suri alpaca is super soft!

Nora's pattern is gaugeless and has lots of room to play around with the size, depth, and fabric you want to create. There are lots of tips and notes in the pattern and it was 10/10 for ease and instruction. I can definitely see myself knitting another Iso for me because it was so enjoyable to make and the result is so lovely 💜

Today, purple felt like the colour of choice. Probably because of the beautiful irises, purple bearded lillies, deep purple red peonies and others we have been seeing bloom.

All skeins are DK weight and completely gorgeous.

I don't usually post my personal creative work on here - but this project for the #whereweknitkal hosted by @theknittingpaige & @fiafiayarns has become rather intertwined with my creative small business, so here we are!

I'm knitting the Linus Cardigan by Renée Callahan in Genna Yarn Tweed DK (colour: pueblo mix) & @botanicalfibres Sensible Sock (colour: quebracho/osage) - swipe for a photo of the colourwork section. Only the cuffs left to finish!

My "where we knit" inspiration is where my personal knitting project starts to link into my work as Mable & Rose... It's a photo by @betterdayfits of me modelling for her 2025 linen collection during a combined photoshoot in my own garden (zoom in to see a pair of my upcycled earrings). I can't believe how perfectly the project matches my actual home... a somewhat literal interpretation of Paige's prompt 😂

I also had the pleasure of collaborating with Paige & Juliana to bring a fun craft to their gathering for this Knit Along... we invited everyone to colour a little house on shrink paper to match the "where we knit" theme, which I wil shrink & turn into stitch markers. If you made one - I plan to drop them off at Fia Fia on Wednesday for you to pick up anytime they are open.

The final reason this relates to my creative work with Mable & Rose is, of course, that I make notions & jewelry for knitters (you can even peep one of my row counters in the project pic). In the next few months, I'll be bringing more of this side of my business back to IG - hope you'll enjoy coming along for the ride!

A few final bonus local business connections... I picked up the DK while at Knit City with the lovely @3amknitter & the Sensible Sock from the equally lovely @thevioletunicornshop . In the final photo, I'm knitting at @mrspshomestylebakery (such a delicious cookie - maybe don't swipe if you're hungry!).
