✨ New Episode Drop Today ✨
This episode of The Mama Bear Podcast was full of beautiful “Mama Nuggets” from Brandee Guyton, proud mama of NFL wide receiver Jalen Guyton. Brandee’s story is full of faith, family, and resilience from standing as her son Jalen’s #1 fan through roster changes with the Cowboys, Chargers, Raiders and free agency, to being a grandmother of two beautiful little girls and going from 18 years as an educator to now serving as an a voice for children with special needs through her work at Be An Angel, a nonprofit providing adaptive equipment and life-changing support. She reminds us that behind every athlete is a mom who carries more than we’ll ever know. ❤️ 🏈💖 Shoutout to our sister Stacie McCall-Harris @collegefootballmoms and Check out our full episode on YouTube @inthedenwithmamabear and Brandee on her IG community page @momsofthenfl #TheMamaBearPodcast #momsofthenfl #SportsMomLife #FaithAndFamily #JalenGuyton #BeAnAngel #MamaBearNetwork

Today I hopped onto social media and stopped to learn about the situation that occurred at the Frisco Memorial High School track meet with the young man who killed an athlete because the athlete said to him “You’re sitting under the wrong tent”. My heart sank because I know what it’s like as a mom to be sitting under a tent all day watching your child run at a track meet or waiting for your kid to run in his event and heat. This did not seem to be an athlete having beef with another athlete. But as my sister @inspirebystacie, who has coached trained and supported as a mom for many years in track and field, football and volleyball, and I talked about in a recent podcast episode we need to do better. Everything our kids do is not a reflection of how we parent and what we feel but we all have an obligation to encourage our kids to respond to things responsibly and as an athlete they must be accountable. Athletes, especially young athletes, must train their mental so that they can act appropriately when they are faced with situations that they do not like and make them feel less than. This is another teachable moment. I pray for those families for strength and comfort. Let’s do better! Our full episode is full of teachable moments. I invite you to watch and subscribe to my YouTube channel In The Den With Mama Bear and to check out more episodes here too. For families and players in the NFL, we know that NFL often feels like it stands for Not For Long. The journey can bring the most thrilling highs and the most devastating lows. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed to experience more highs than lows—thank you, God! But when the lows come, like waiting for a team to call after being released, they can test your patience and faith.

Waiting—whether it’s for something we deeply want for ourselves or, as a parent, something we desperately hope for our children—can feel daunting. As much as I strive to stay faithful and positive, it’s not always easy. Still, I know God has a plan, and I firmly believe that what is meant for you cannot be stopped. But even with that knowledge, the waiting can be so hard.

Through it all, I try to pray, stay patient, and trust that God is working behind the scenes. Jalen, I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of you—not just for living out your dream of playing in the NFL but for the amazing person you are. You are a loving son, brother, grandson, friend, husband, father, and so much more. Your kind, patient, and loving heart makes me prouder than words can express.

God’s got you, and Momma will always be here praying for your path in life. I love you beyond measure!

.we're Team Guyton foreva.
.
.definitely sad you won't be on the Chargers this coming season...but we'll be holding out hope (and praying) that you'll return someday.
.
.in the meantime, we're happy we'll at least get to see you twice a year and cheer you on (and hopefully also get to see @bottleblondebg 🥰).
.
.football is more than the jerseys we wear 🥲 football is family.
