🔊🔊 Bear family crossing the creek in #bouldercolorado !

This video is a couple of months old and it is amazing to see how much bigger the cubs are! I particularly love the female cub with the white patch on her chest! 🐻🐻

🔊🔊 Silly kitties!! 😸

Baby bobcats continue growing and haven’t stopped playing!! Momma is so patient with them!

I am still way behind on videos, so this one is about theee weeks old… I will, eventually, go through all the clips I have gathered :)

🔊🔊 Day or night, momma bobcat works hard to feed her kittens! 😻😻

Seems like for this bobcat family the preferred diet staples are:
1. Prairie dog
2. Rabbits
3. Squirrels
4. Mice/small rodents

Seems like a balanced diet :)

🔊🔊 Love is in the Boulder air!

This is a male mountain lion pursuing a female in the mountains not far from #bouldercolorado

The male trying to bite the female’s tail is… hmm… provocative? 🤔

Hopefully we will see kittens sometime in the next 3-4 months! :)

🔊🔊 This is quite the busy log! Bobcats and the regular residents, as are raccoons. Bears have been more of a seasonal visitor (and momma bear has a lot of milk!!)

The birds have also been very cool to see! Here we see a spotted towhee, a blue jay, a yellow breasted chat… and when there are so many birds around, it’s not uncommon to find a Cooper’s hawk (a young one, in this case)

Cheers!

🔊🔊 Volume on! Momma bobcat calling her kittens near #bouldercolorado

As kittens grow, they venture out farther away from mom. So when mom returns from hunting, she calls them and sometimes has to wait for a while!

And the reunion was so tender! I shortened it to avoid having too long a video, but they gathered and groomed each other for a few minutes before continuing on 😻

🎶🎶 These are some of the many portraits I have taken of this bear family. They approached the scent tree and waterhole almost everyday this summer. Now that things have cooled down, they are not coming nearly as often.

The suns have grown so much! They were tiny young cubs early in the season. Now they look like large, brown cotton balls 😂

The one with a white patch on the chest is sister, and the other one is brother. Pretty cool little models! 🐻

🔊🔊 Tender moment between momma bobcat and one of her kittens. The kitten wanted to nurse, but mom just wanted to cuddle and play.

Momma bobcats generally only lactate for a couple of months. The first month kittens elate fed exclusively milk. The second month it’s milk and prey. Then they are weaned.

I am pretty sure that I’ve seen bobcats older than two months nursing, but it is very rare.

In this case the kitten wanted milk bu mom wanted none of that! 😻

🔊🔊 One spot, three different families… more or less same behavior from the little ones! 😸🐻🦝

This spot has been popular for wildlife families lately! The bobcat family has called this spot their main home/playground for the last few months, and now raccoons and a bear family have been visiting too! :)

🔊🔊 This bobcat kitten was curiously playing with a leaf, until a sibling came to crash the party! 😸

The young bobcats are easily distracted! I’ve seen videos of them going after mom’s and each other’s tails, following birds with their eyes, playing with leaves and sticks… always curious and having fun! (Well, except when eating… at that point it gets pretty serious :)
