POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

**FOUR RACERS. FOUR LAPS. ONE BIKE.**

What could possibly go wrong?

The legendary **LONESOME LOUIS RELAY** is returning to Mare Island UCX on November 1st, and we're bringing back one of the most ridiculous traditions in BASP history.

Here's how it works.

Get a team of four people together.

Pick ONE bike.

Each teammate races one lap before handing that same bike off to the next rider.

That's it. Four people. Four laps. One bicycle.

Sounds simple, right?

Now imagine four grown adults trying to agree on a saddle height.

Your 6'4" teammate might have a slight advantage over your 5'2" teammate. Or maybe not. We're not here to solve your team's poor planning.

We're just here to watch it happen.

The relay kicks off **after the final race of the day**, so stick around, grab your friends, and get ready for what might be the most entertaining race of the entire weekend.

And yes, there are bragging rights on the line.

**The top three teams will make the podium**, and the winning team will have their names etched into the legendary Lonesome Louis trophy, proudly displayed at Mare Island Brewing Co.

A permanent reminder that four people somehow managed to share a bicycle without destroying their friendships.

So start recruiting your teammates now.

Find your fastest friends. Find your funniest friends. Find someone who owns a bike that might actually fit all four of you.

Or don't. That could be even more entertaining.

**NOVEMBER 1ST. MARE ISLAND UCX.**

Come for the urban cross.

Stay for the absolute chaos.

**BASP is back.**

Your Cyclocircus Ringmaster here to remind you that we're throwing 2 epic weekends of racing designed to compliment and confound the other serious racing going on around NorCal!

November 7 & 8 we'll be back at Laguna del Sol, a fantastic resort with a traditional style CX course around a lake. There's a hotel, a restaurant, pools and hot tubs, and camping so we encourage you to make a weekend of it. There's also our world-infamous naked race at the end of each day so bring your original skinsuit!

November 22 we bring you Nutty Cross, a part of the historic and resurgent BASP series, presented by Boundless Locomotion. Nutty always delivers the best weekend cross experience in California, racing through a walnut orchard attached to a steampunk brewery because we're tired of boring city parks too.

More details at cyclocircus.com, the link is probably in the bio but honestly we can't be bothered to check. Good luck.

The @baspcyclocross series has been delivering great racing to the SF Bay Area for a quarter century, but this year might be its most diverse set of venues.

The series expands to eight races and six venues, and kicks off this Sunday with the stunning views from Berkeley's Shoreline Park, just a few miles from the first-ever @usacycling #cxnats.

Get the 411 on the full series on our site today.

Our favorite part about BASP has never really been the racing. It's getting everyone together.

It's seeing the same faces throughout the season, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and spending a Sunday surrounded by people who love riding bikes just as much as you do.

Sure, we all show up to race, but BASP has always been about a lot more than what happens between the course tape.

It's hanging out before your race. Cheering for your friends after yours is over. Meeting the people you line up next to every weekend. Kids running around. Cowbells going off. Sharing some food. Talking about bikes. Making new friends and catching up with people you haven't seen since last cross season.

That's the stuff that makes these races special.

This Sunday at Shoreline Shredder, we want to make that community part of the day even bigger.

There is a big open grass area near the course, so bring out your tents, chairs, blankets, coolers, and whatever else you need to make yourself comfortable. Set up near the other teams and racers and let's turn the grass into one big BASP hangout for the day.

Stay after your race. Watch the next one. Heckle your friends. Meet someone new. Grab some tacos. Fly a kite. Let the kids run around. Cheer for people you don't know yet.

You don't have to be racing to come hang out either. Bring your friends and family and spend Sunday with us.

We want BASP to feel less like showing up for your race time and heading home, and more like spending the day with a bunch of people who happen to really enjoy riding bikes around in circles.

BASP is back.

And we can't wait to have everyone back together this Sunday.

Over the last week we highlight each one of the race venues in the BASP series.

And now it has us asking: Is BASP arguably one of the most diverse cyclocross series in the country?

We think it just might be.

Eight races. Six venues. And almost no two weekends feel the same.

From a historic dumpsite overlooking the San Francisco skyline, to a classic cyclocross course with deep roots in Bay Area racing, a legendary 50-year-old cyclocross tradition, a former U.S. naval shipyard, a working walnut/beer farm, and a classic Bay Area CX venue along the beach — BASP brings together an unusually diverse collection of places, courses, and experiences.

Six venues. Six personalities. Six completely different ways to experience cyclocross.

This isn't just a series of races. It's a tour through some of the most unique places cyclocross has to offer.

BASP is back.

BASP is getting NUTTY.

If you’ve never been to Nutty Cross at Ruhstaller Farm Brewery, you're missing one of the best weekends on the NorCal cyclocross calendar.

Last year, Nutty Cross was the biggest weekend cyclocross race in California and, according to the highly scientific research of asking everyone who raced, everyone’s favorite BASP race.

And honestly, we get it.

Where else can you race your bike through a walnut orchard, send it through a mud pit, and then walk 50 feet to find yourself sitting on a couch next to a firepit while a live band plays and a chicken casually wanders by?

This isn't your typical cyclocross venue.

The course winds through the farm and walnut orchard, with plenty of mud, grass, turns, and questionable lines to keep the racers entertained.
But the racing is only half the experience.

Live music.
Food trucks.
Firepits.
Couches.
Beer.
Cats.
Ducks.
Chickens.
A whole lot of cyclocross.

And, of course, the legendary mud pit.

There's something about watching a full field of cyclocross racers voluntarily launch themselves into a giant pit of mud while everyone standing around cheers them on that really brings people together.

That's what makes Nutty Cross so special. It's not just a race. It's a place for the NorCal cyclocross community to come together, hang out, race bikes, watch your friends get filthy, and have a really good time doing it.

So bring your bike. Bring your friends. Bring a change of clothes.

And maybe don't wear your nicest shoes.

Last year, BASP brought the energy, variety, and good vibes to 5 cyclocross races across the Bay Area.

Apparently that wasn't enough.

So this year we're turning it up a level.

BASP 2026 is expanding to 8 races across 6 unique venues, giving riders a full season of radical racing from September through December.

From classic BASP venues to new additions, every stop on the schedule brings its own personality, challenges, and opportunities to either become a local hero or an embarrassment among your friends.

Most importantly, it's 8 chances to get together with the incredible Bay Area cyclocross community that makes BASP what it is.

Registration for BASP 2026 is officially OPEN!

Head over to the BASP website at the link in bio to check out the full schedule, learn more about each venue, and claim your spot on the grid.

It could have been a really shit year. But I opted out of that path and instead chose to be better and kinder to myself. Through that, I remembered how to be happy again. Love you all for loving me when I’m bright but also when I’ve been not so bright. ❤️🌟 #cyclocross #2025 #cycling #bikelife #yearinreview
