My grandpa used to say that no news is old news until you know about it 🗞️

Well, it may be over two months now but breaking news to you - and I’m still thrilled to share that my friend, collaborator and neighbour @_ke_nna_lesego_ was awarded “Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” - Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government, @franceinsouthafrica with Ambassador @david_martinon. 🎖️

Having worked with Lesego over several years, cofounding @mollo_animation at @tshimologongprecinct, with him being the founding Art Director, I’ve been in the front seat witnessing Lesego influence a new generation of African animators to work with imaginative locally contextual storytelling, adopting his Vovo Styla. He then went on to win a Children & Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Character Design for Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire (Disney+).

Lesego and I often joke that when our powers combine we are the INCREDIBLE LES (get it? LESego/LESley 😉) and our shared vision was a huge influence in the decision to write my Masters thesis on the Influence of Cultural Diplomacy on South Africa’s Animation Industry.

Cheers to you Lesego Vorster, your legacy is secure and this is only the beginning 🥂🍾🥂

The Novembre Numerique Animation Jam is one of our most exciting events on the @tshimologongprecinct annual calendar. However, this time around a number of team members are abroad developing international partnerships so missing out. With some South African animator superstars based in Paris we’re rooting for magical new films to be pitched from the jam today 🇿🇦💫

Sometimes you feel very inspired to just draw some happy memories!!💫

- One night we just decided to take those little scooters and race through the streets of Paris. Eiffeltower in the back, us cheering and having the time of our lives while avoiding getting hit by anything. Gosh that was so much fun!
-
- @spacebokkie was very reckless and me being the idiot that I am went along with him. 💥💥 So there you have it. Us reenacting the titanic on the streets of Paris or something 🤣👏🏼
-
- +some crappy pictures I took that night. They are really crappy lol.
