So, that’s it huh? Dreaded this day for a while now and that’s for two different reasons: fearfulness and identity crisis. Fear because what’s next for me, and who am I without running? Running has been something I have done just about my whole life and competitively at the collegiate level for six years. While blessed to do the sport longer than the normal collegiate athlete, I had slowly lost the love, thrill, and grind that comes with the sport over the last few months. Results dwindling, racing given up, and struggling to find my purpose while running, I have mentally been a mess. With my priorities all over the place with this new stage in my life right around the corner, I didn’t have 99% of my attention/dedication on running like I used to, and both the results and my fitness levels showed because of it.. and that’s OKAY. I’ve learned to accept that I can’t run my best every day, week, month, year, and this taught me the biggest lesson of them all.. The world always keeps spinning.

* Went out this weekend with a lot of emotion and everything I had. While I struggled, I fought and gave it all I had one last time. For everyone I’ve met along the way, all I can is thank you. Thank you to every coach, teammate, and competitor I have came across.. you made an impact on my life one way or another. While I cannot add everyone person and memory in a singular post, you know who you are.
* While this final season may have been one of my weakest performances in college, it was truly one of the most fun times I have had in my life and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to run at this level.
* Overall, this sport has taught me a lot as a individual and am thankful I took the chance on it. I am proud of the career I had and the person I have become. While I have fear for this next chapter of my life, I am super excited to learn, adapt, and continue to live my best life possible. I am beyond grateful and thankful for my friends, family, and girlfriend for the support over the years.
