Now that the dust has settled on the 39th JHISS and I've stopped crying, I want to say a massive thank you to every single person who made this week one of the most brilliant and magical ones of my life!

This was my first year as JHS Projects Manager and the first year I've worked on the fest from the beginning. I have learned so much from a team of exceptionally generous, kind, and inspiring people. A big shout out to Frank Ferguson who leads us all every day, to the Board and Committee (you know who you are and I love you so much!) and to our JHS Festival Team, Amanda, Amy, Joe, and Ian. I don't have the words to say much you mean to me, and how much I owe you all for this whirlwind of a week.

Thank you to our contributors for your inspiring words, advice and forces you bring to the world, and to our bursaries, I hope you had the best time!

Lastly, thank you to David, Andrew and the rest of the @noalibisbookstore Team, to our Festival Ambassadors for their time, and to the @marketplace.armagh for hosting and keeping our team on track for MANY events!

Roll on Look North next year and the JHISS's 40th Anniversary!

The theme of this year's John Hewitt International Summer School is very firmly in celebration of creative women - taking inspiration from John Hewitt's "Sonnets for Roberta".

Accordingly, we hope this year's programme strongly showcases the rich vein of brilliant women in literature and ideas from both home and further afield!

VERY excited to present this one!

Eliot Prize for her fifth collection, Parallax, in 2013. In 2016 she received the EM Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
