Dieser Ort hier ist wirklich magisch. Nur 30 Minuten vom Eurotunnel entfernt liegt „Boys Hall“. Ein Hotel mit wenigen Zimmern und einem ausgezeichneten Restaurant. Der Garten ist unglaublich schön und ich habe mir auch ein paar Inspirationen notiert, wie die „Potting Shed“ oder die freistehende Wanne mit goldenen Armaturen. Das Frühstück dort kann ich wärmstens empfehlen, vor allem die Buttermilch Pfannkuchen und die Limonaden.

It’s hard not to take a degree of pleasure in the first properly chilly weekend of the season and the novelty – after our long, hot summer – of lighting the fire, pulling on a pair of thick socks, pouring a glass of red and having absolutely nowhere you need to be. This Autumn, a crop of new openings makes the case for leaving the city behind and enjoying a cosy weekend away in the countryside.

We have gathered a selection of beautifully designed boltholes that span the country, from quaint Cotswolds villages to windswept Scottish farmland, and covers every kind of escape. Welcome 44… can’t believe that is the number but there it is! Dog walk and lunch at Boys Hall, then family over for coffee and then for cake cheese board. Feeling very lucky. (FYI - been waiting all year for that to turn red, and yes I know it’s no good for brick work 😂)
