RONDO ISN’T JUST A WARM-UP. ⚽

A lot of people see a rondo and think it’s simply about passing, keeping possession, and not losing the ball.

once you look closer you get to see every single thing you really take from it

1. SCANNING

Before receiving the ball, players should be gathering information about where the pressure is coming from, where their teammates are, and which passing options might open up.

2. BODY ORIENTATION

The way you position your body before receiving can determine how quickly you can play your next pass. A good position can help you see more of the pitch and access more options.

3. DECISION-MAKING

Do you play one touch or two? Do you keep the ball moving, switch the angle, or play through the middle?

The best choice depends on the information available and the pressure you’re facing.

4. PLAYING UNDER PRESSURE

The space is limited. The defenders are closing you down. Your time on the ball is shrinking.

This is where technical ability meets decision-making.

5. CONNECTING EVERYTHING

Scanning means little if you cannot execute. Technique means less if you cannot recognise the right moment to use it.

The goal is to connect what you see, what you decide, and what you do.

Of course, a rondo alone won’t make you an elite player. The real challenge is transferring these habits into match situations.

At LATU, we believe development isn’t just about doing more repetitions. It’s about understanding what each repetition is teaching you.

Train with purpose.
