There’s nothing like watching two professional fishing guides geek out over a bunch of kokanee at Lake Shasta.

Fishing with great clients is always fun, but spending a day on the water with another guide who gets just as excited about these little silver bullets is something else. The moment the rods start popping and kokanee start flopping on the deck, we’re just a couple of fishing nerds having the time of our lives.

Some of my favorite photos from the @californiatrout 5 Rivers challenge last week. This is fun-raiser event we put on to help highlight some of our best spring fed wild trout rivers in Northern California. Contestants get to the McCloud, Upper Sac, Pit River, Hat Creek and Fall River. Some quality time spent on the water and around the deck at Circle 7 lodge. Kid, thanks to everyone involved for helping support our work too protect and enhance California’s Coldwater ecosystems.

Some highlights from the @californiatrout 5 Rivers Challenge this year hosted at Circle 7 ranch. We moved the comp back to October for better temperatures and less crowded. Fishing was good across the board. This is a fun friendly competition to help raise funds for conservation on some of Californias best spring fed wild trout waters.

Congrats Steve Johnson and David Mossier for defending the title.

These last four months have felt like a dream working at @intricatebaylodge. I have finally started a dream of mine that began when I first stepped foot in Alaska when I was 12 years old, to work as a guide.

The overall experience leaves me short of words to describe it. Bush plane rides and the constant dance around brown bears are just an average day out there. Chasing giant rainbows and dodging sockeye.

I’m so thankful for the team I had around me, it wouldn’t have been the same without them. Thankful for the guidance from the ever so wise @abeblair and being a rad roommate.

Met some amazing clients from all walks of life and made memories for a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who made the experience what it was.
