Was on TMS2 with the amazing @morganhoff and @bradcsmith today. They are killing it with the new show and carried me in our segment. Great fun but Brad has better hair than I do. Annoying.

When life feels heavy, our instinct is often to do more.

Fix more.
Figure everything out, all at once.

But when we’re in a stress state, everything can feel big, hard, and complicated. That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means you’re navigating a lot.

Sometimes, the most helpful thing we can do is slow down before we speed up in the right direction.

Get clear on what matters most.

What do you need to prioritize right now?
What helps you feel safe?
What does simply showing up look like today?

You don’t have to solve every problem at once to start making progress. Sometimes, doing less and focusing on what matters most is exactly how we begin to find our way forward.

Watch the full segment, 🔗 is in my bio!

Thank you @morningshowca for having me on today!

1 minute before a live show can get pretty tense but our hosts know how to keep it cool 😎❄️

City Council should be a first choice, not a last resort.
Beaches—East York shouldn’t be taken for granted.

On Friday, I talked about my perimenopause on national TV. Today is World Menopause Day — so let’s keep talking. 💖

Three moments from the segment are in this post. Sound on, swipe through.
I keep thinking about why I said yes to that couch. It wasn’t to be brave, and it wasn’t really for me. It was for the version of me who didn’t have a name for what was happening — and for every woman still sitting where she sat: wondering what’s wrong with her, blaming herself, carrying it quietly because that’s what we do.

Nothing is wrong with you. That’s the whole reason I went.

Perimenopause can feel lonely in a way that’s hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t lived it — the midlife juggle, the little-kid years and the changing body all arriving at once, the sense that you’ve somehow misplaced yourself. If that’s you today: you have not misplaced yourself. You’re in a transition. And transitions deserve support, not silence.

So this is me, a South Asian dietitian in her own midlife, saying it as loudly as national TV allows: our symptoms are real, our mental health matters, and none of us has to do this part alone. 💖

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible @morganhoff and @bradcsmith, and the leadership team at The Morning Show 2 at Global News, for giving this conversation a platform — and for treating it with the care it deserves. You are the best of the best. Big thanks to Dr Dalfen for all the gems ✨

What’s the one thing you wish someone had told you before perimenopause started? Tell me 👇🏼 — someone reading this needs to hear it today.

Save this, or send it to a friend who needs it. 💖

Fall Wardrobe Refresh 💜

Thank you TMS2 @morningshowca for having me back yesterday to share some tips on shopping and editing your closet 🪄

Before you place those “summer” pieces in storage, maybe you can layer them for fall and winter looks 👀

Thanks @morganhoff and @bradcsmith for playing Vanna White with the jorts 😆 and to @laura.ann.carroll for producing this segment 🙏🏽

My look:
Lace catsuit @maisonsimons (old)
Purple pants & brooch @thecitizenroom
Black blazer (old from a warehouse sample sale)

Our clothes are energy. If they’re sitting in your closet, and you haven’t worn them for a year+, consider donating, selling, or swapping with a family member or friend 🫶🏽

Happy weekend❣️

If you’re looking for a spicy kick this cold and flu season and love a DIY - fire cider could be something to consider . . .

It’s a tonic that’s been around for decades, made popular by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar in the 70s. Essentially it’s immune support herbs and spices infused in apple cider vinegar. And it’s VERY easy to make at home.

What’s in fire cider? There’s an example recipe below, but people make it their own. Typically it does include:

-Ginger - contains compounds called gingerols that have been studied for their anti-inflammatory effects
-Onion and garlic - full of sulfur compounds that are really good for us
Horseradish - for the heat and some and antimicrobial properties

Here’s an easy fire cider recipe:

3–4 cups apple cider vinegar (enough to cover everything)
½ cup fresh ginger
¼ cup fresh turmeric
¼–½ cup horseradish
8–10 garlic cloves
½–1 onion
1–2 jalapeños or cayenne peppers
1 lemon + 1 orange
2–3 rosemary sprigs + some thyme
1–2 cinnamon sticks
Honey to taste (after straining)

How to make it: chop everything, put it in a large jar, and cover with apple cider vinegar. Let it steep for 30 days minimum, then strain so you just have the liquid. Add honey to taste.

Most common ways people use it:
* As a daily tonic. Usually about a tablespoon a day. People take it straight as a little “shot” or mix it into water or tea.
* More often when they feel something coming on. A tablespoon a few times a day is a common approach.
* In food. Salad dressings and marinades are popular, and some people splash it into soups or stir fries.
