Today our Newton turned 9 years young! It’s been a year of transition for our smiley, beautiful boy. He’s had to learn how to be an only child, and I know, like us, he misses his brother every single day. But he remains the silliest, sweetest, most rambunctious boy, full of so much personality. And we feel so lucky to be his humans. We love you, Newt-newt!

I was raised on…

Boy Meets World, Backstreet Boys, and Babysitters Club.

I was raised on having to pay for Disney Channel outside of cable channels and my parents allowing me to watch “my show” Sundays at 4:00.

I was raised on going to Kings Island with my family immediately after school let out in May to beat the heat and the crowd.

I was raised on the early church service, Sunday school, and then McDonald’s breakfast at the tall table in the corner with my parents and brothers.

I was raised on back to school clothes shopping with my mom every year and eventually shopping at stores I walked out of for the last time and never knew it (Limited Too🥹).

I was raised on end-of-school sleepovers (me) and end-of-summer campouts (the boys).

I was raised on Barbies, baby dolls, American Girls, and every accessory I could obtain for each.

I was raised on burning cds, having to watch the bottom of the tv screen for snow day closures, and checking the answering machine after getting home.

I was raised on butterfly clips, spaghetti straps, and begging my mom to wear my platform shoes to school because my only goal in life was to be a Spice Girl.

I was raised on the best things God could have given me. What were you raised on?

I love running because it’s one of the few things in life you can’t lie, cheat, or halfass your way through. The distance is the distance and your time is your time. Sometimes the training, weather, friend support, crowd support, and everything else aligns and the run is perfect.

Today it didn’t, and I didn’t get my goal time or a new PR. But I’m still very happy with my time of 4:21:50!!

The Illinois Marathon was a great course with great crowd support. Thankful for the incredible friends who trained with me over the last for months, ran with me today, and for the incredible Frontrunners community that came with this weekend. We had almost 20 runners between the full, half, and 10K! I love this sport.

Time to start training for the next one!
