Sometimes the craziest ideas are the ones worth chasing 🤷‍♂️

From thanking you guys for 50 subscribers… to celebrity all-star games, national tournaments, professional teams, covering games at our alma maters, traveling across the country for “work,” and now even on movie sets.

It’s pretty wild looking back at where this all started and everything these “silly little YouTube videos” have turned into. And the best part is… it still feels like we’re only getting started 🚀

Thank you to everyone who has watched, liked, commented, shared, supported, worked with us, or been a part of this journey in any way. None of these opportunities happen without you guys. It’s been one hell of a ride so far!

And yeah… we’re going to keep making those silly little videos 😉

🏀 Off-season training part 4: lower body strength

Squat, hinge, lunge. If you haven’t noticed, the commonality with my other recent posts on my off-season is that I keep things simple:
👍🏽 Good exercise selection
✅ Appropriate sets and reps
📈 Progressive overload

🏀 Basketball Offseason Training, Part 2: Upper-Body Strength Exercise Selection

My sessions for athletes are admittedly lower-body heavy. I’ve always viewed that as the engine for performance. But that doesn’t mean we don’t hit the upper body.

Here’s a look at my exercise selection to build upper-body strength for basketball players, prioritizing performance, durability, and the ability to handle the demands of a long season. You’ll notice mostly a balance of basic pushing and pulling in the vertical and horizontal plane using weights, flywheels, bands, chains and digital resistance.

The goal is to get strong without any excess mass that might slow them down or take away from jump height or quickness.

🏀 Another basketball offseason is in the books.

Almost 6 months from @t.warren1 arriving to @dezwells_ wrapping up….I had a group big enough to fill a full squad…especially if we put @okhanani0 on the bench 🤣.

This group included athletes who’ve trained with me for 6 years, guys joining for their first time, D1 standouts and league vets.

I rarely capture much content when these guys are in @athleticlab, but I got enough this summer to give you a peek inside the work.

These are a few random clips from our posterior-chain and core training. The stuff I typically do as accessory work at the end of sessions. Not shown: plenty of banded core work, heavy RDL variations (bilateral, single-leg, kickstand, and wide-stance), and Glute-Ham Raise variations. But overall, this is a pretty accurate look at the foundation accessory exercises to build strong hips, hamstrings, trunk control and resilient athletes.

In coming vids I’ll share some conditioning, lower body strength, upper body strength, and speed and power training.
