Lemurs have seasonal reproductive cycles tightly tied to the environment of Madagascar . Females are sexually receptive (in estrus) for an extremely short window of 6 to 48 hours once a year, and gestation lasts about 4.5 months, aligning births with the wet season. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Mating and Social Dynamics

• Female dominance: Female lemurs hold social dominance over males and choose when and with whom to mate. Unreceptive females aggressively cuff or chase away males.
• Scent battles: Males compete using unique “stink fights,” rubbing wrist scent glands on their tails and wafting the musky, fruity odor toward rivals or potential mates.
• Short receptivity: Females may mate with multiple males during their brief window of fertility. [4, 7]

Gestation and Development

• Litter size: Mothers typically give birth to a single infant or twins depending on food availability.
• Infant care: Babies cling tightly to their mother’s belly fur for the first few weeks before moving to ride on her back.
• Weaning: Young lemurs start tasting solid food around 5 weeks and are fully weaned by 5 to 6 months. [2, 5, 9, 10]

If you want to focus on a specific lemur species (like the ring-tailed lemur or blue-eyed black lemur), I can provide more details on their exact breeding timelines and social structures.

This past weekend was absolutely a high point in my drumming career. Filling in for @orphanband was an experience I will never forget. The intensity I felt while on stage was unlike anything I have ever felt before. The pressure I felt was also immense, as this was my first time ever doing a fill in gig. Thank you to everyone who trusted me to get the job done. For the first time in a very long time, I am proud of myself.

My first trip to New York was amazing, even if it ended with me getting a broken nose! It was absolutely worth it to support my man❤️❤️

A huge thank you to everyone that took the time to come out yesterday and support this whole thing. From set up to the end it was a phenomenal time. We would formally love to welcome back @orphanband to the scene. They’re here to fuck you up. Go to their shows.
Also a HUGE HUGE SHOUT OUT TO LOCAL LEGENDS @dishonoredsucks for running their last show ever. We appreciate everything you guys have down to pave the way for the scene around here. We’ll miss you in Texas Derek. Shout out to all the bands that played yesterday and shout out to @henhousebuffalo and @passafist_booking for hosting this absolute powerhouse of an event.
