Maxing Out

Singles get a bad wrap, mostly because they are often executed incredibly poorly with way too heavy weight. This leads to the videos you see of kids getting pinned under the bar, squatting like they're doing the shmurda dance, and taking trips to snap city on deadlifts

When executed properly, singles produce great responses

✅️Highmotor Unit recruitment
✅️High rate of force development
✅️Highest possible muscular tension
✅️Largest tendon/connective tissue deformation
✅️High levels of rate coding

Use proper loads, train with excellent technique, and singles can be your best friend

Core training

Comes in many forms, but here are a few ways we train it here

Tumbling- handstands, bear crawls, back bridges are a great way to challenge your core along with mobility of many parts of your body

Side plank variations (feet elevated+hip taps, copenhanged bridges)- these challenge your obliques along with your hips, which are hooked to your core. Bad core=bad hips

Unilateral exercises- stuff like single arm bench and single arm rows are great way to challenge how well you can hold yourself rotational in place. This is essentially an isometric for your transverse plane (rotational plane)

Throwing stuff- throwing med balls are a great way to challenge core flexion (slams, rotation (med ball long toss), and extension (overhead throws) use them all, if you have the range of motion with no capacity for speed, you're setting yourself up for failure
