Slowly reading my way through life
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
5️⃣Five, Books, Five Stars, Five Genres5️⃣

@bloodandmoondust tagged me in this one a little while ago and I've tried to use some books I don't show very often (not all of them ok, Hobb is Hobb is Hobb).

Biography
👑Mary Queen of Scots - Antonia Fraser. I was low-key obsessed with Mary for a while and also Lord Darnley. This book is fantastic.

Lit Fic
🇮🇪Small Things Like These - Claire Keegan. This book is quietly profound in all the best ways. I still need to watch the adaptation.

Classics
😴Edgar Huntley or; Memoirs of a Sleepwalker - Charles Brockden Brown. When I say I don't vibe with American classics, this is always the exception!

Fantasy
🐺Assassin's Apprentice - Robin Hobb. I mean I don't really need to say anything do I?

Horror
Build Your House Around my Body - Violet Kupersmith. Another one I want to reread because I read this when I was high with flu and it was wild!

❓Do you read many different genres regularly?

❓Who's that Pokémon ❓

@readsbyrew tagged me in a match your Pokémon stack and WHAT DO YOU MEAN, My ROTE books are the PERFECT Eevee colour palette? 😍😍

I was torn between Sprigatito and Eevee but when I saw the perfection of this match (and the significant lack of spring greens on my shelf) decision was made.

❓Did you collect anything as a kid? I was too old for Pokémon really and I've gotten into it now with my kids. I am old enough that I collected marbles 🤣 and Pogs too!

🍂Fall TBR🍁📚

❓What’s on your fall TBR? 🍂📚
❓Are you planning any fun projects this fall? 👀

Hey peeps, how's it going? Laura here. 👋

So I've been tagged in multiple challenges lately and I love that! It's also one of the few things encouraging me to keep posting lately, as I haven't had much energy for reviews. (Although I definitely haven't stopped reading 😅)

I absolutely love fall, and it's always giving me a little spark of joy and the will to start new projects. Among them, I've started an in-person book club! We're meeting at the end of the month to discuss The Memory Police, and oh boy, did I enjoy this one! (Go ahead, read it!). Yes, @shattered.anthologies, you read that right. I'm giving it 4.25⭐ 🤭

So anyway, these are a few of the books I'd like to read this fall. (Yeah, I know, I had The Count of Monte Cristo on my summer TBR too. Didn't get to it lol 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Thanks @shona_reads_in_devon and @shawnsbookcorner (I know that was for the summer TBR, but I'm hoping this will get me off the hook lol 😅) for tagging me!

Lastlyyy, I think John Mayer's earlier albums are perfect for my autumn mood, especially Battle Studies and Where the Light Is. 🍂🎶

I'm tagging a few of you, but no pressure! ❤️

🍃 September Stack🍃

@tess_reads_books pulled out her September Stack nice and early and I'm getting in early doors as well.

Have a classics stack for this one - I resent having to use Emma but the Es were limited!

Me, @the_nerd_huntress and @thechaotic.tbr are planning 12 months of classics next year - Middlemarch is on the hitlist. I've read the rest of these.

❓How is life this Monday morning, I'm full of the joys of the kids being back at school 🎉

📃10 facts about me📃

Some of you will know some of these because I am terrible at thinking up new facts about myself that are publicly admissible.

Thanks to @ashleyfinamorereads for giving me a DM tag 😂

❓Do you know your Meyers-Briggs type? I used to be an ENTJ but I've become more introverted in my old age .

It’s Friday flat lay time. tagged by the man with some of the nicest socks this side of the internet.. @flip_the_page doesn’t like doing these, but he knows I’ll get them done. We have the ❤️‍🔥/🖤 featuring some awesome covers.
also tagged by @serpentsintheshelves for a what this week

Got to see my nieces and sister.. they live in KANS-ASS JKJk. We got some mid food and some amazing gelato.
Not having my fam here has been tough, but I feel when you get To hang, you focus on the present.

I have been in the longest read of my life. Shogun is taking everything I have to maintain my Zen balance. It is the slowest book I’ve ever read, but I’m almost there.
Not getting it done alone
The other ronin
@howling_bookmark @stormbornarchive @id_ratherbe_at_pemberly @beeristhemindkillerkc are on this quest with me (even though most of the group has finished)..
Reading certain dark things and that’s turning out to be an awesome, modern vampire story set in a neon lit world with noir feelings. It’s one of those books that you want the love to be rapturous, but also, you know something isn’t going to go right..

Reading fear and loathing in Las Vegas.. what a wild ride.. can’t say I haven’t been there, wondering the streets of Vegas looking for my car or even my mind..

In a buddy read/ listen with @micheletigerlily and @ovium_reads and the echoes saga 2nd arc.. what a wild ride it has been. Didn’t think @philipcquaintrell.author could have of that momentum going after book 3, but here I am, on book 5… and it just keeps on building.

Not watching anything really..
Started 11–22-63 the show and the first episode was good, but something was a little off, will continue for sure when the times calls..

Still running 3 days a week and trying to incorporate more strength training, so the kettle bell has been a go to. It’s versatile and the movements can match my whatever intensity I set..

just got done with my first 24 hour fast. Water only and just trying to see what I’m capable of after the 18th hour I wasn’t really hungry and I could’ve kept going, but I knew I had a long day the next day. Have you tried anything like that?

☀️Happy Sunday, peeps! Laura here 😁

This has been yet another busy week, but luckily things are slowing down now as we're getting ready for our upcoming vacation. I can't wait to just relax and read some books.

Thanks so much for the tag, dear @wanderer_among_books ! 🤗 I actually attempted this challenge a while ago but almost abandoned the idea because... well, lack of time. So thanks for the nudge! 🤭

The alpaca in the first pic is just a friend I made during my trip to Peru about a year ago. That was a fun one! And of course, the second slide is Marty... having no idea what he's doing, as always. But at least he's cute, so he's got that going for him. 😂

💬 Soo what are you reading this weekend? 😁

Anyway, I tagged a few of you, but no pressure (and sorry if you've already done it lol)! 💛

🚫Don't yuck my yum🚫

Ok ok so I thought about doing this one today and then @i.dont.give.a.fantasy.funk read my mind and tagged me, so here it is!

So we all know I like an honest review, my page isn't all only full of things I love and I find myself far more eloquent about things I don't like than those I love. C'est la vie.

BUT. Read. What. You. Like. The world is a dumpster fire so read what brings you joy. And zero judgement from me. It's our differences that make the world special and you'll hear nothing from me about what entertains you (unless you hate Terry Pratchett and then we gon fight.)

📚July Stack📚

Yes yes, back to Unseen Academicals and Yumi. But also shiny new Abercrombie! Thanks @tess_reads_books for the tag in the month stack!

We're at the start of a new week guys; how we all doing? Thriving or surviving?

We are heading into the last couple of weeks of school before summer, my two most hated months because it's chaos at school, both kids birthdays in one month and then 6 weeks of holiday chaos. Upsets my structured brain. Reading is always low this month.

BUT. The sun is out, so we can't complain too much.

Tagged a few for a stack!
