Happy Filipino American History Month 🇵🇭✨

Growing up there was a time I was ashamed of my culture. Of being too loud, too different, my skin being “too dark”, the scent of the lunch I had packed, and having parents that worked full time and expected highly of me. I just wanted to blend in and not be different. I was too American to be Filipino, but too Filipino to be an American?

Now? I have never been more proud to embrace my story, heritage, and what steps my family took for me to have the life I get to live.

Proud to be Filipina. Proud to be first-gen. Proud of the skin I’m in, the language I grew up hearing, the values that raised me.

To honor those who paved the way so we could achieve the dreams our parents once only whispered about.

For the first generation who carry the weight, the work, the love, and the legacy of everyone who came before us.

We honor them by taking up space. By dreaming louder. By building lives they only imagined.

We deserve to be here. We deserve ALL of it. 🇵🇭🇺🇸

For my newbies around here, heyyyyyy! My name is Alyssa (“uh-lee-suh).

I’m a 27 year old who has turned my passion for hair into a fulfilling career! I’m a first generation Asian-American & I couldn’t be prouder to add some representation of my roots while also being a woman-owned business. To make things more interesting…. I balance this all while working as a full-time night shift RN.

I describe my work as soft romantic; where I specialize in adding volume to fine hair, and to create long-lasting styles. Consider me as your hair fairy! • My love for travel is fueled at its peak, I’m only 9 countries away from accomplishing 30 countries under 30!
• Nap Queen over here! I may sound high in energy, but I’ll be the first to fall asleep any moment I can.
• I have the world’s strongest support system & will absolutely never take that for granted.
• you’ll catch me drinking absolutely anything besides water haha.
• dough hoe over here! My specialty loaves are jalapeño cheddar & fig/goat cheese/ prosciutto.

My current interests: hojicha matcha, opening Pokemon cards w my boyfriend + doggo, and chocolate!
