Being a Black woman athlete is a privilege 👸🏾!!

There is something so special about being in a room surrounded by people who look like you. Something that is hard to put into words unless you’ve experienced it. Being able to look across the room, lock eyes with another Black woman, and somehow know exactly what that look means without a single word being said is so underrated.

It’s the unspoken understanding. The silent acknowledgment. The feeling of, I see you. I know what it means to be here. I know what it took to get here.

I had never known of such a big community of Black women in rowing until two years ago. To realize that there were so many of us out there, all navigating the same spaces, carrying similar experiences, and showing up in a sport where we are not always the majority, was something I will never take for granted.

Being able to stand alongside other Black women, even if we are from different teams, different schools, and different backgrounds, is such a beautiful reminder that we are not alone. There is a sense of connection and belonging that comes from seeing yourself in someone else.

I feel incredibly honored to be a part of this community. Honored to share space with these women. Honored to look around and see faces that look like mine. And honored to be one of the many Black women helping to make our presence known in this sport.

I am proud to be a Black woman. I am proud to be an athlete. And I am grateful for every moment that reminds me just how powerful it is to see ourselves in one another.

What a privilege it is to be a Black woman athlete. And i would choose this life in every lifetime 🖤. #womensrowing

‼️I’m running the 2026 NYC TCS Marathon‼️

Never in a million years did I think I would say that but I am so excited to be running to fundraise for Row New York.

If you know anything about me you know that I always joke that rowing is my only personality trait. But the truth is I wouldn’t be where I am today without RNY. I am running to be able to give kids the same opportunity that I was given almost 10 years ago. Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal (link in bio).

Swipe to the end to see the little girl who you’re helping 😋😋

16 years of rowing (10 years in the fitness game). Lots of ups and lots of downs.

But moments like these remind you why you keep showing up. Big s/o to the ladies of @braidrowing pulling up to visit @pelotonstudios I think we need the BRAID crew to come through and take a class so we can show the world the power of diversity in rowing. Keep up the great work ladies @amari.yvette @baylorhenryyy @chinemeregnjoku_
