Flash back to my first electric race program - the Best Buy Brammo team that contested the very first TTXGP race at the 2009 Isle of Man TT. Our bikes were modeled after 250GP bikes and were quite slow by TT standards, but we finished on the podium in 3rd as the top American team beating out bigger names like Mission Motors and Motoczysz. I’ve always been a fan of lighter, more nimble motorcycles and carried that fascination through my work at Lightfighter where we try to match the power-to-weight and handling dynamics of some of the best Supersport bikes.

Reminiscing about motorcycles today, after writing that piece about plagiarism for my Substack. If I had to pick one photo as a highlight from my time in that space it'd be this one. Snapped by Adrian Stewart, that's @bozbros dragging knee on the road for the first time in the hills above Ashland, Oregon. The bike is the electric Empulse R from now-defunct Brammo, and just out of the shot its designer @wisdesigner and CEO @bramscher are watching. I'm wearing a custom all black kangaroo onesie @iconmotosports made for me that was a dream to wear, but never photographed all that well. At the time, the motorcycle world was bursting at the seams with EV innovation as people rushed to develop IP they could sell to the car world, but Brammo was rushing ahead with compelling consumer products. This was the first ever electric bike that could reach over 100 mph and travel over 100 miles on a charge. Even has a manual gearbox. This was the firat time anyone from outside the company had ridden one. Wrote this one up for Wired and Playboy, and of course Hell For Leather (RIP).

A wheelie. Because I’m workin’ hard on my 2019 racing season over here and we all deserve a wheelie now and then. Especially on #wheeliewednesday. This is my favorite wheelie pic of all times.
