Without fail visiting the Ecology Center completes a trip back to Orange County. We had both girls there, my mom even lives there now. However for many reasons we chose to live in a place with more freedom to build our own kind of home. This farm and the beach are the only places I truly felt connected at when I lived there. Every time I have come over the past 6 years it has blossomed into a more beautiful version of itself. From Carras flowers, to Johnnys amazing farm and of course Evans vision and grit I am in awe of what they have put together to create this wellspring in the middle of suburbia. I am reminded that hard things are possible and to dream big crazy dreams.

There might be other ways to surf the Alaskan coast, but I’ll never attempt them because this mystic vessel can access every break, warm your bones with a hot shower on deck, dry your wetsuit by the stove, and fill your belly with obscenely tasty food between sessions. The Milo rules, in other words, and if you want to go surf in Alaska, that’s the way to do it. Huge thanks to @mikemcfish @wendykmccune and @northcoastgems for being the best hosts a couple soft Californians (and a slightly less soft Washingtonian) could have asked for on our first Alaskan sea voyage. We’ll never forget it ❤️🙏 #milosurfboat

I’m not a “cold water guy”. If it’s up to me to plan a far-flung surf trip, we’re going to Mainland Mexico or Central America or somewhere I can throw on boardshorts for warm, comfortable, easy sea frolicking. Luckily I wasn’t the one planning this trip, @brandobardo was, so we ended up in freezing-ass Alaska, scouring a remote strip of coast in a converted fishing trawler and trading empty waves in hooded 5/4s, gloves, booties, etc. It’s not something I ever would have picked, which is probably why it was such a mind-blowing experience (thanks to Brandon for the planning, @1800seandotcom for the invite, the Milo crew for taking care of us, and Bret, Alex, and Ted for the awesome vibes). Anyway, here’s part one of a three part photo dump. #milosurfboat
