POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I don’t post often and it’s usually about some music related road trip but that’s me last August in my happy place, Hornby Island, BC just hours before I received my breast cancer diagnosis. A short month later I was undergoing a double mastectomy and trying to find my way back to my new normal. It’s day surgery here and @happeaathome came and stayed 2 weeks to help with my nightly care so Dean could sleep for work. Bailey reduced her hours at Nicili’s so she could help run @northlineconstruction HQ. She even came over special just to wash my hair until I could do it myself! ❤️ As the weeks passed I knew I needed help getting stronger since I sit at a desk for a living and already had preexisting back & neck issues. I was blessed to be connected with @sabatherapy and she has helped get me stronger than I ever was. I’m extremely grateful to the many women online that have shared their stories because without them I wouldn’t have known how important the option of #aestheticflatclosure is since 1 out of 3 reconstructions have complications. They’ve helped me feel confident in my decision to forego reconstruction and remain a #flattie. I can’t imagine subjecting my body to at least 2 more surgeries, risking losing the physical gains i’ve worked so hard for, just to try to comply to societal norms. Of course @brandoliniprior has been the best husband through all of this considering and is completely in support of my choice. I’ve been quite quiet during this time and a lot of friends and family don’t even know but my Oncologist told me that if I hadn’t gone for my routine mammogram or even just delayed it a month or two we’d be having a different conversation and I wouldn’t have gotten away with no more treatments or meds and only bi annual in person exams for the next 5 years. So this is my PSA to anyone still reading to be your best advocate. Get & do your screenings & encourage your loved ones the same! Don’t ignore changes. Learn the signs. I had none! 1 out of 8 women is too many!! Now let’s get back to music shows and road trips to Portland! 🥰 #breastcancersurvivor #breastcancersucks #flataftermastectomy #flatvisibility #flattiebaddie

Pepper has claimed our new rug baby from @experimentalvintage as her own! She is so happy we finally have a working fireplace after how long?!? I realized again upon posting this that if I messed around with filters it would probably end me! Absolutely love the colours with our space! #sparkjoydecor #renolife #roadtripscore #dreamcometrue #experimentalvintageruglove #nofilter

Portland has my heart! Not sure I’d ever want to live in the USA again though, especially since I only just became a passport issued Canadian this year but there is just something special about it there… When the opportunity to end this roller coaster of a year with a whirlwind #roadtrip to see our favourite band @the_delines on Christmas Eve eve seemed somewhat challenging yet necessary I was up for it! I did my best to get organized and build up my strength with this lofty goal of a live show (staying up past 9pm) and a hotel stay with a soaker tub as my motivation. I was anxious of all the things that could go wrong like snow storms or positive Covid tests but fate was on our side and we actually made it (it was just over 6hrs. down). On Saturday Dean surprised me with a trip to @experimentalvintage (I’ve been following Anna for 6+ years!). I got the rug of my dreams and she made some excellent dining suggestions too. Dean had heard of @oxpdx and it worked perfect with our Saturday night plans. The food and staff were amazing and we were grateful to get bar seats at the window with no reservations. We love @polarishallpdx and it made it way more relaxing having been there before and we arrived early enough to score a limited two seater table with stools… I was much more behaved this time and we had an excellent view and saw lots of familiar faces. It was so fun to hear “Husband” Scott (IYKYK #thetweedyshow ) join in to sing some Dear December hits! Scroll back to my 2019 Christmas Holidaze post… Anyway the whole trip was the best present @northlineconstruction could ever give me! He did all the driving too! I am grateful and ready for 2024 now… 👌🤞💪🙏🎉🥂#thedelines #christmasinatlantis
