#Reminder … I’ve put my life into skateboarding… I love it, I hope you do too !…. My life outside of skateboarding has always been a struggle for me … only my mom and sisters know what it means to me … I’m having a hard time surviving outside of being on board … My trust issues are off the rails as of lately and I can’t seem to find peace within my place of love off board… Im aimlessly wandering to find something that doesn’t seem to be … I’m going to continue to devote myself to skateboarding , showing what I’ve learned in 40 years on board, staying true to skateboardings unwritten rules and loving the community of skateboarders I’m so blessed to have around me … just a rant on Thursday morning for me … much love friends and fam … #skateboarding #love #staypositive * If you want a lesson on skateboarding hit me up, or stop by the Y and schedule something out!

What a way to close out the summer with The @lousrecords 1st annual Leucadia Block Party Featuring @sunbendr.band & MONARCH and DJ’s Abby Normal & DJ Hummus. SUNBENDR’s set brought the heat right into the sunset with pizzas from Corner Pizza, NumbSkullz Shave Ice, and Lue Lue pit stops. This was some event, and the neighborhood showed up and sang back up! Well done everyone 🤙🏆🔥!

Back in the day, Kut U Up was approached by a rep from Columbia Records at @casbahsandiego Brandon and I were talking to her when Micah walked up, and I introduced her to him, “Micah this is Laurie from Columbia!” And held up the business card she had handed me. He looked at this obviously American white woman and replied, “Wow, what part, Bogota?” Dead serious. She gave us a funny look and said, “Records, Columbia Records.”

He was more excited to meet someone from Columbia, than someone from Columbia Records ha ha that’s how he was.

Anyway, we proceeded to call her office line relentlessly, leaving dozens of drunken, obnoxious, rambling messages. Needless to say we did not get signed and I’m pretty sure she sent us a stern warning to stop calling.

This is a photo of Micah and I probably leaving one of the hungered messages we left for her. Micah was always up for hijinx.

Scenes from a life truly lived. Micah Mattson, August 22, 1977 – August 22, 2026. Sending love to all of Micah’s family and the many friends he made along the way. We’ll be sharing some photos and stories from the ride, and please don’t be shy about sharing your own. There are a lot of good Micah stories out there, and we would love to hear them.

These photos are from along the way, some from the “Pop Disaster Tour” with @kutuupmusic Kut U Up, blink-182 @blink182 , Green Day @greenday , Jimmy Eat World @jimmyeatworld and Saves The Day @savestheday Just a good time with the fellas writing songs and sharing stories about life on the road, while on the road.

For anyone looking to help, friends of the Mattson family have set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses and the everyday costs of caring for Micah’s sons, Julian and Vincent, as the family navigates everything ahead.
Any contribution helps, and simply sharing the fundraiser goes a long way too.
