NYPA 2026 @national_young_performer 🇳🇿🖤

What a weekend!!! Witnessing 59 of the best Tap Dancers across the country share their love and skill on New Zealand's national stage 👞.

Huge congratulations to all of the tap dancers who smashed it on the PACANZ stage. Especially to the our incredible dancers @celinal679 @katemcleoddd @emily_e_cooper @arna._.main @_camden.w_ who our choreographers @brandoncarterchan & @brigid.carterchan had the pleasure of coaching 👏.

And of course... CONGRATULATIONS to our very own @celinal679 for taking out 2ND place🥈and securring on spot on this years podium! We are so proud of you Celina and we can't wait to see where your blazing passion for Tap dance takes you next 🔥.

Special mention to @emily_e_cooper for making it all the way to the Top 6 Finals on your first year!

Finally, thank you to the committee for allowing us to also showcase at this year's NYPA finals. It was a beautiful feeling to have two past winners of this historical comp perform with our TAPNZ team on the 50th anniversary of PACANZ 🖤. We can't wait to see all of this year's competitors take their love for Tap dance into their young adulthood and beyond!!!

In 2014, this happened.... @lukealleva found @brandoncarterchan to reach the required Tap standard to award him the winner of Pacanz at just 16 years of age.
.
A proud moment and forever grateful to @simonwatts86 for his incredible choreography and wonderful mentoring and inspiration to Brandon during those teenage years.
.
Also to @peterkemble who assisted Brandon during the last term before Pacanz while Simon's career took off with his "Stomp" world tour.
.
Thanks to Nikki for always being so supportive of Brandon's dance career.
.
Very proud to see Brandon return with his student, the current Pacanz Tap winner @amlirwnn (and his other student @jess._.wmain being the current Tap Runner Up), and with his own Tap Dance company, NZ's first, who will guest perform at the final showcase evening for the 50th celebration. Also with his brother @cameroncarterchan who is co choreographer of the company.
.
Best of luck to all our students!

TAPNZ X AFROSOUL NZ 2026

Shoutout @afrosoul.nz & @stylebender for having us perform on this years Soulwave stage 🌊🇳🇿. We love having the opportunity to fuse our Tap dance with different styles of music and this was one for the books!

We went back to the roots of Tap dance origins, channeling the West African cultural musicality and steps, while staying true to our iconic TAPNZ street style 🖤👞.
