Wax Pack No. 5 (Released Summer 1978) Inspired by the classic 1977 Topps Star Wars Series 5 trading card collection. The collection continues. The final chapter. ๐ŸŸฃ๐ŸŸฃ Following the unprecedented success of Star Wars, Topps released its fifth and final trading card series during the summer of 1978 โ€” completing one of the most iconic non-sports trading card collections in history. Known as the Orange Border Series, Series 5 featured 66 movie photo cards (No. 265โ€“330) and 11 stickers (No. 45โ€“55), bringing the legendary collection to a total of 330 cards and 55 stickers across five series. Unlike earlier releases, Series 5 offered fans a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of Star Wars, featuring George Lucas directing, miniature spacecraft, groundbreaking special effects, and previously unseen production photographs. The distinctive blue wax-pack wrapper featured an X-wing starfighter, bold orange STAR WARS lettering, and the announcement โ€œNEW! CANTINA SCENES! 5TH SERIES.โ€ And, of course, every 15-cent wax pack included that unforgettable stick of pink bubblegum. Nearly 50 years later, the original 1977โ€“78 Topps Star Wars collection remains a treasured piece of pop-culture history, capturing the imagination of an entire generation. Wax Pack No. 4 (Released Late 1977) Inspired by the classic 1977 Topps Star Wars Series 4 trading card collection. The collection continues. ๐ŸŸข๐ŸŸข As Star Wars became a full-blown cultural phenomenon in 1977, Topps continued its original trading card run with Series 4 โ€” the now-iconic Green Series. Series 4 featured 66 movie photo cards (No. 199โ€“264) and 11 stickers (No. 34โ€“44), instantly recognizable by their vibrant green borders. Sold in $0.15 wax packs, the series featured characters, scenes, behind-the-scenes images and artwork from the film โ€” along with that unforgettable stick of pink bubblegum. Series 4 also became famous among collectors for Card No. 207, the legendary C-3PO โ€œGoldenrodโ€ error card. The original image was altered during production, resulting in both uncorrected and corrected versions of the card and creating one of the most recognizable variations in vintage Star Wars collecting. Like many of the original 1977 Topps cards, finding Series 4 examples in exceptional condition can be challenging because of centering, print defects, rough edges and the realities of mass-produced cards that were originally bought by kids, traded with friends and stored long before anyone imagined what Star Wars collecting would eventually become. Nearly 50 years later, that green 1977 Topps wax pack and the cards inside remain unmistakable pieces of Star Wars and trading-card history. My Wax Pack No. 4 takes its inspiration from that original Green Series design โ€” with a little Globo Gym Purple Cobras White Goodman Obi-Wan Ben Kenobi and Blazer Luke Skywalker attitude added to the mix. Wax Pack No. 4 โ€” Ball Me Blazer! @topps @starwars @brandonmolale #BallMeBlazer #Dodgeball #StarWars #Topps #WaxPack Green Brandon Molale โ€œBlazerโ€ vintage wax pack displayed against a black-and-purple cosmic background with a green glow. The retro artwork features Brandon Molale as Blazer alongside White Goodman, Ben Stillerโ€™s Dodgeball character, representing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars-inspired design. A smaller green 1977 Topps Star Wars wax pack featuring Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi floats at lower right beneath the text, โ€œInspired by the 1977 Topps Star Wars Wax Pack.โ€
