Day 2 – On the road again Started the day at 7,042 km. Awake for 7 hours, breakfast, packing, and then I left at 9:25 AM from Hotel Oberwirt in Wangen. Rode north towards Strass, passing Weingarten and Pfullendorf, with a break in Messkirch. From there, a beautiful road towards Kolbingen — but I took a wrong turn and had to head back to Sigmaringen for another short break. Then I continued west towards Balingen, such a cute little town. But the real highlight of the day: the first proper serpentines of the season. Finally curves again. From there I rode via Rottweil to Königsfeld in the Black Forest, where I stayed at Hotel Il David. Arrived shortly after 5 PM. Luckily, the hotel had a restaurant, so I had dinner at 6 PM, took a short walk, and called it a day. What made today special: the landscape — gentle hills, dreamlike curves, high rock formations. The Donau river winding through the scenery, railway tracks making everything look like a painting. The weather was amazing. I’m proud of myself for navigating everything on my own while still taking the time to enjoy the surroundings and not stress. Also, there was very little traffic — just a few cars and now and then some groups of motorcyclists. What was difficult: getting out of a parking space that I had parked into forwards — had to push the bike back out, which was harder than expected. Fail of the day: while lubing the chain and pushing the bike forward, I accidentally kicked away the side stand… and the bike fell over. Lesson learned. End of day: 7,301 km — 259 km today.
