Blue on blue, then a little pattern, warm wood and art everywhere you look.

A beautifully layered room by @brasshilldesign , and proof that a strong palette leaves plenty of room for personality.

From fragments almost lost to history, two wallpapers with a remarkable connection to Swakeleys House in Ickenham have been brought back to life. Built in 1638 for wealthy London merchant and later Lord Mayor Sir Edmund Wright, the Grade I* house was conceived as an impressive retreat from the city — a place of architecture, entertaining and extraordinary decorative detail.

Swakeleys Chinoiserie (c. 1750) one of the wallpapers, has been carefully resurrected from fragments found within the house, revealing an intricate Chinese-inspired design of trailing branches, flowers and foliage, originally stencilled and hand painted.

Preserving a small piece of Swakeleys’ long decorative history — and a reminder of the treasures that can sometimes be found in the most unexpected places.

Here are some of our favourite projects using a range of colourways.

A pattern in the frame. Subtle, but enough to bring everything together.

The Nuno Inlaid Frame isn’t just an accent piece. It’s what helps a room feel considered, without trying too hard. Because the right details don’t stand out.
They settle in.🤎

The only kinda 🍆 I wanna see in my feed. This aubergine dream sets the mood for max movie viewing, thanks to a room-wrapping angled sectional and a high-gloss eggplant paint from @farrowandball. Jewel tones and tactile textiles create the perfect place to plop with dogs and kids alike 📸 @charlottehooperphotography
