The Fort Wayne shoegaze/dream pop band thinning. will be at The Brass Rail tonight for an album release show alongside fellow city bands Etymon and Sparkle Teeth.

In a review of the album, our reviewer has some pretty high praise for "light from a dead star."

"'light from a dead star' stays in a contemplative mood throughout, keeping the songs feeling as if they were torn from a tear-stained journal. Melodramatic? Sure, but that’s the beauty of this album because thinning. commit to the vibe and stay the course. Much like Sharon Van Etten and the Attachment Theory and their Gothic leanings, thinning. have given us songs that hang in a melancholic gaze at some long, fading horizon," J. Hubner wrote.

Fort Wayne singer-songwriter Caleb North had his debut album, "and when it hits, it'll all hit at once," hit streaming services today.

“I don’t know, it’s just like a really cool way of communicating what I’m feeling, but also what others are feeling," North said of songwriting and performing. "It’s always special when people are saying, ‘I feel that and I don’t even know how to articulate it.’ That felt really special.”

If you'd like to nab a physical copy of the album, North will be at The Brass Rail on Saturday, Oct. 24, with The Namby Pamby, Ellie Jackson, and Mol Sullivan.

“I’m making each CD and kind of making them super-special and writing little lyrics in them and stuff like that. I really leaned into the whole DIY, being more intimate.”

Rapping for a live audience is the love of my life. Its my favorite thing to do, and I’ll keep doing it for as long as the good Lord allows me to. That’s what all this shit really boils down to. #FortWayne, thank you for allowing me to come into your home and rap for you last night. ♥️ I hope to do it again.
