This @cifsjs Division III semifinal series shifts to El Capitan, where the seventh-seeded Gauchos need only a win to eliminate No. 3 Manteca.

Rollin' into Game 2.

No. 7 El Capitan has won 13 straight games, including a 3-0 triumph over No. 3 Manteca in their series opener. The Gauchos can clinch a Division III finals berth on Thursday when the series shifts back to Merced County.

Noah Navarro had his senior season interrupted by a hand injury that forced him to miss three games, but he's made a heroic return to the lineup. Navarro's bat has been a catalyst in Manteca's first section semifinal appearance since 2017.

The third baseman suffered an injury to a finger on his throwing hand late in the VOL season. His absence allowed Manteca to work in other players, but make no mistake about it: Navarro's bat and glove are critical to the Buffaloes' hopes. He's 4-for-8 with two doubles and four RBI in wins over Antelope and Ponderosa.

El Capitan is on a special ride of its own. The Central California Conference champions are strong on both sides of the ball and have already proven they can win on the road this postseason. Last week's stunner at Vista Del Lago sent shockwaves through the bracket and announced Merced's youngest campus as a title threat.

This one will be fun. 🍿
