🌱 back to our roots: cassava, plantain & sustained fuelling. 🤎

as eliud kipchoge continues to inspire the running world, let’s talk about something often overlooked in sports nutrition: traditional carbohydrate-rich foods.

🍠 cassava is a starchy root, providing carbohydrates to help fuel training and replenish glycogen stores.

🍌 plantain is a starchy fruit that provides carbohydrates alongside micronutrients such as potassium and vitamin B6.

🌍 fufu & ugali are traditional staples that show how carbohydrate-rich foods have nourished communities for generations.

why does this matter for athletes?

⚡ carbohydrates help power endurance exercise
🏃 they support recovery by replenishing glycogen
🤎 eating enough helps meet the energy demands of training

cassava and plantain fuel elite athletes around the world. so why are we not using them as fuel?

🔋 this is why I created REDscue.

inspired by traditional plant foods, our vegan energy bars combine cassava and plantain as their carbohydrate foundation, delivering 38g of carbohydrates per 70g bar.

built from my own fuelling experience, we’re bringing these ingredients into a convenient fuelling option for modern athletes.

ancient roots. modern fuelling. fuel without fear. 🤎

LONDON - you were bloody brilliant 👏🏻🔥🥹🚀

Yesterday I had the privilege of spending the day amongst so many inspiring founders, industry experts and investors at the @breadjamfest FeelGood Summit.

It was my first industry event of its kind and I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with so many wonderful and friendly founders… to name a few: @mamashrooms_ @date.kin @pourcoldbrew @cultever.co

Give these lovely people a follow 👆🏻

I learned so much - the industry experts/speakers were fantastic! One of the key takeaways - Consumers are becoming more intentional with their spending and their snacking - with wellness becoming a daily habit rather than a destination. It was also fascinating to learn that GLP-1 users are significantly impacting shopping behaviours.

It was very reassuring to hear (from some well known brands) that it can take YEARS to build your business before it gets on shelves - no one is an overnight success. The honesty was GOLD 🙌🏻🙏🏻✨

Needless to say I’ve come away with soooooo much information and fire in my belly🔥

Until the next time 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

What happens when you put a few hundred founders, buyers & industry stand-outs in the same room…

Today I had the pleasure of attending Bread & Jam’s Feel Good Summit - all about championing up and coming brands in the wellness food industry.

I listened to talks from experts in the teams at @trip.drinks , @hollandandbarrett , @hunterandgatheruk, @goodrays @giantscoffee

And also got to network with the founders & teams from @drink.soleau , @catalyse.life.drinks & @gkazasolijfolie

Next year I’ll be pitching 👀

Today I had the pleasure of speaking to over 200 people at the @breadjamfest’s Feel Good Summit about why I started @toliciousbrand and what I’ve learned along the way.

One of the gems I shared? Don’t rush to buy in bulk before you know what people think.

Get your family, friends and colleagues to try your products. Go to pop-up markets, let people experience them for themselves and listen to their honest feedback.

That’s how you start collecting useful data to help guide your business decisions.

I’ve learned that you don’t always need a big research budget to get started. Sometimes the best insights come from putting your product in people’s hands and paying attention to what they say.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a great conversation!

Perks of living at the bottom of the country. 😂🌊

Night train, here we go! 🚂

RED-Scue has been chosen by @potterclarkson as one of the Top 10 most promising functional food brands at the @breadjamfest FeelGood Summit, selected from hundreds of brands! ⚡️❤️

Off to London for Bread & Jam and the FeelGood Summit, with 100% off my ticket thanks to the FeelGood Summit Challenger Fund.

Building a business from the very bottom of Cornwall definitely comes with its challenges. The early starts, the long journeys, the night trains and the sacrifices you make to get yourself into the rooms where opportunities happen.

But when you believe in what you’re building, you find a way.

RED-Scue was born from my own experience of under-fuelling, injury as a Spanish national athlete and seeing just how much our relationship with food can affect athletes. I want to challenge the way we think about sports nutrition and make carbohydrate-first, gut-friendly fuel more accessible to athletes.

I’m a small, founder-led business from Cornwall with a big mission, and opportunities like this remind me why I started.

Because this has never just been about energy bars. It’s about changing the conversation around fuelling, helping athletes understand their energy needs, and making sure food isn’t something we fear.

So, night train it is. 😂 Anything to get RED-Scue out there, build the right connections and get one step closer to making this happen.

Let’s get RED-Scue to every athlete. 🌍

Fuel Without Fear. ❤️‍🔥 The mission is too important 💪🙌👑✨
