My high school library celebrated the first amendment, and our students right to free speech 📣 and exploring ideas 💡 through Banned Books Week. The book display has gotten a lot of the students’ attention as to why there are flames coming out of their precious library books! My school’s social justice class came into the library for a lesson about censorship, and they followed up the next day with an escape room. One of our local libraries also had a free screening of the Emmy award-winning documentary, The Librarians and I was honored to be asked to give my experiences on a panel after the screening with other local school and public librarians. #highschoollibrary #bannedbooksweek #schoollibrary #bookstagram #librarians

I’ve used @BreakoutEDU in my classroom for years (both Digital and Kit games), so I was so excited to try their new Blended Mode, which combines paper clues with digital locks. 🔐 We used a standards-aligned math game to practice equivalent fractions in small groups, and my students were fully locked in. 🙌 Want to try it with your class? Comment LINK and I’ll DM you the game plus a free 14-day trial! #breakoutedu #mathsmallgroups #smallgroups #equivalentfractions #fourthgrade

🔢🧠 Numbers + Systems + Curiosity = Brighter Thinkers! GT Scholars put their number systems knowledge, problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration to the test as they cracked codes to recover the missing animal specimens! 🔐🐾 After breaking out, each scholar “adopted” a specimen and gave it a unique numerical identity using different number systems. 🔢✨ Learning about systems is even better when it feels like a mystery to solve! 🕵️‍♀️🧩

Seven Breakout EDU kits are locked and ready for Monday. 🔒 Our English 4 students will start 1984 by working together to Escape from Dystopia. Later in the week, we’ll transform the classroom into a dystopian society they can experience and question. If you were writing the rules for a fictional dystopia, what’s the first rule you’d make? 👀 @breakoutedu @jfbhsrebels #BreakoutEDU #1984 #InstructionalTechnology

If you’re looking for ways to increase collaboration and engagement in your classroom, I can’t recommend @breakoutedu enough! I use Breakout EDU in my classroom for a morning kickoff to set a collaborative tone for the day. I love seeing my students tackle challenging problems as a team. 💪🏽 Some of my favorite activities are their daily Lock of the Day puzzles and their standards-aligned math games. I also love that students can create their own games in the Game Design Studio. This Color & Solve activity was a hit this week because it turned math skills practice into a hands-on challenge that kept everyone fully engaged. If you want to give it a try, comment BREAKOUT and I’ll send you the link! 🔐

Last week, we hosted our 10th grade English classes for Edgar Allan Poe–themed @breakoutedu sessions. In class students read *The Tell-Tale Heart*, but came to the library and explored more of Poe’s eerie works through clues, puzzles, and challenges. 19 classes, lots of teamwork, and a whole lot of Poe! #HarBerReads

What does an actual @breakoutedu game look like being played? Check out my high school American Government classes playing a game about the branches of the federal government. Students had to work together to read the clues and look for the combinations that would unlock 🔓 the locks! #highschoollibrary #schoollibrarian #escaperooms #socialstudies #handsonlearning
