This year at @hockleyhustle we’re bringing a piece of that to our stage at @the___carousel with @onlynotts For our second talk of the day, we’re joined by session musicians @duncangrantmusic and @ariannareddi to pull back the curtain on what life is really like behind some of the biggest live shows in the world. Between them, they’ve performed with artists including Lola Young, Rita Ora, Anne-Marie, The Hunna, Cat Burns and Nina Nesbitt. 20 years ago, an 18-year-old with £1,000 and a big dream started @hockleyhustle across seven Nottingham venues. Today, there are 500 acts, 50 venues and over £250,000 raised for charity. In collaboration with @breakouteventsuk screening as part of Forward Film & Television Festival 🎬 The Best Summer 📅 Saturday 3rd October 🕒 5.00pm 📍 @mockbirdcinema The Best Summer plunges audiences into the heart of the 1995 Summersault tour with the Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Pavement, Rancid, The Amps, and Bikini Kill as they travel across Australia and Southeast Asia. Shot entirely from Tamra Davis’s handheld POV camera, the film moves through backstage hallways, onto tour buses, into hotel rooms, and directly onto the stages themselves, creating an unusually intimate portrait of artists at a formative moment in their lives and careers. Rediscovered nearly thirty years later, Davis’s raw footage captures not only explosive live performances, but candid conversations, fleeting friendships, and the chaotic energy of life on the road. What began as a personal archive became a time capsule of a disappearing era in alternative music and independent filmmaking. Immersive, spontaneous, and deeply human, The Best Summer invites audiences to experience what it felt like to be there.
