do we actually want artists to be original?

everybody says they want something new until something actually sounds unfamiliar.

the funny part is, a lot of the music we call influential now probably sounded weird, unfinished or straight up bad to people when it first came out. sometimes the artist isn’t missing. cuz sometimes our ears just haven’t caught up yet.

and once the sound finally clicks, suddenly everybody can hear the vision. then the copies come, the influence spreads, and the same thing people were clowning gets called ahead of its time.

maybe originality was never supposed to be instantly comfortable.

sometimes the whole point is hearing something and not really knowing what to do with it yet 🫶

which nostalgia core hits the hardest?

its weird because when people talk about nostalgia, they usually talk about the big things.

but most of the time its the tiny stuff that really gets you.

the old loading screen. the sound of someone joining the party. the exact song you used to replay while doing nothing. the toy sitting on your desk. the group chat that hasn’t been active in years.

none of it felt important while it was happening.

it was just normal life.

then a few years pass and somehow those random nights become the memories you would do anything to experience one more time.

maybe nostalgia isn’t really missing the game, the music or the era.

It could be just missing the version of yourself that still thought there would always be another night exactly like it.

if you could go back to one of these eras for just one week, which one are you choosing?

has “experimental” lost its meaning?

at this point one weird synth, a distorted vocal or an off-kilter beat is enough for people to call an artist experimental 😭

but theres a difference between sounding different and actually pushing into territory people dont really have a name for yet.

artists like jane remover, 2hollis and quannnic make that line way more obvious.

the genre, structure and production actually start falling apart instead of just getting decorated with one strange sound.

maybe “experimental” was never supposed to mean weird.
maybe it was supposed to mean unfinished territory.

what artist do you think actually deserves the label right now?

the first listen problem.

an album drops at midnight and somehow not even an hour later everybody already knows if its a classic, mid or washed 😭

but some of the albums we rate the highest now were the same projects people were confused by, disappointed in, or straight up hated on release night.

music isnt always supposed to hit instantly.

sometimes the weird song becomes your favorite a week later.

sometimes the album makes more sense once you stop comparing it to whatever you expected before pressing play.

but social media kinda forces every release into an immediate verdict. we dont just listen anymore. we judge while were listening. maybe the first listen was never supposed to be the final opinion.

Nine Vicious just dropped SEDITION today, Che came back last week with “KickAss (Pull Up Pls),” xaviersobased has spent 2026 moving from Xavier into “strobe lights,” Nettspend pushed further into his own lane with Early Life Crisis, and OsamaSon is taking the PSYKTURNAL run through Europe this month. All five have stayed active without moving in exactly the same direction.

Nine’s recent run has been dark and increasingly chaotic, Che keeps bouncing between blown-out production and shorter releases, xaviersobased still sounds unmistakably tied to the internet scene he came out of, Nettspend keeps folding fashion and online culture directly into how people read the music, and OsamaSon has turned his maximal production and live shows into something much bigger than where it started. Five different personalities, five different catalogs, and five people who would probably make the exact same room feel completely different.
