What a joy cohort 5 has been! Last week we wrapped on the fifth cohort of Acting Beyond The Surface, and, as always, it was a bittersweet moment.🥹

I’ve had the pleasure of working with these two actors before, and when I first met them, I could tell they had a passion for the art of acting. Each week they leaned in and allowed themselves to be pushed past their comfort zones and challenged in ways that opened their creativity. Acting is a journey, and through that journey we make discoveries and explore. They did just that! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I am so proud of the work these two put in over the past 6 weeks. They are destined for greatness, and I can’t wait to see all that they will accomplish.

I want to leave you with this:
To explore and live truthfully in art requires you to know who you are, face some things about who you are, and accept who you are. Remember that this pursuit is a journey, so give yourself grace.

To all the actors and artists out there, you are enough, and you have something unique and amazing to give to the world. Don’t give up and remember who you are!✨

About last night:
We had a pre-workshop check-in with Russell Hornsby @russoulhornsby and it was fantastic!
🙌🏾

Per usual, he was dropping gems and inspiring us with his passionate knowledge of the work and the craft in how we discover and play!!

This workshop will be WORK - but we are working hard and preparing to next-level our skills in character development and storytelling!

Hey Denzel @denzelwashington.official @denzeltheartist and Viola Davis @violadavis we will be READY for the next wave of August Wilson plays and films. We absolutely understand that one cannot learn everything in a weekend, but we will leave will sharpened tools and enhanced confidence in our ability to bring his characters to life in an authentic way that honors Wilson’s work!
✨

Yes, there are still observer spots available. And yes, we still have a waitlist for workshop participants.
