Had the pleasure of bringing “Sit With Yourself” to the Detroit Institute of Arts for two days of creativity and connection. Over 200+ people of all ages came through to spend some time with themselves, explore my artwork through color, and make it their own. One of my favorite parts was seeing how differently everyone interpreted the same illustrations. 𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗜𝗜𝗜: 𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡. 🌪️ My first hair show - ahhhhhh. My comb never left my hand. I was still holding it moments before my models stepped onto the runway—making final adjustments and studying every detail. For a moment, everything around me seemed to disappear. It felt like it was just me and God, watching this vision become real. In each of them, I saw extensions of myself throughout different phases of my life. Each woman carried a different part of me—my curiosity, my softness, my chaos, my strength, and eventually, my surrender. They weren’t simply wearing looks I created; they were bringing pieces of my story to life. I’ll always remember the laughter, the delirium, and the beautiful madness of this day. Everything was weird. 🖤 Thank you, @sofiamoussier, for creating such a beautiful production and giving artists the space to dream this boldly. Watching you bring a vision of this magnitude to life was just as inspiring as the show itself. You are so damn powerful. MY GIRLALAAAH, @mookthamua, I truly could not have done this without you! You are the ying to my yang, honey. Your makeup gave each character depth and completed the world I imagined— you are so incredibly gifted. My crafty DIY QUEEN @breecass —thank you for cutting, spray-painting, piecing, sewing, building, and figuring it all out beside me. You truly brought every look together - NASTY work!
