@jiberish is the Denver ski and streetwear brand that has quietly shaped urban ski culture and music discovery for twenty years. This is the full story of how a brand built on intentionality became one of the most important cultural connectors between skiing and electronic music in Colorado. Founded in Denver in 2005 by three friends with corporate jobs and no fashion background, Jiberish built the athlete roster that defined a generation of freeskiing, released @odesza ‘s first No Sleep mixtape through their boutique, collaborated with Pretty Lights, GRiZ, and Wu Tang, and grew into outerwear worn at the X Games and the Olympics. Along the way they became the brand worn by Colorado artists like Disco Lines and Peace Control, without a single contract. Now Hotbed and Jiberish are bringing that story to life. On June 27, we are taking over Larimer Street in RiNo, Denver, for the Larimer Street Takeover. An open-air day party at Beacon on Larimer with headliner @mai.iachetti , direct support from @gs5_music , and an opening set from the winner of our DJ competition, rolling into a night takeover at Mockingbird. Arsenii is one of those unicorn photographers who can do anything, from breathtaking motion work to stunning & unique portraits. His images always ride a beautiful line between glamour, fine art, and postmodern photography. They are often highly conceptual, yet still maintain the glamour and flawlessness the entertainment industry requires. After 15 years of working in the entertainment industry as a photo editor, I know this is a fine line that not many photographers can walk. Either the images become so conceptual that they no longer work for what talent and reps need to promote a show, or they play it too safe—while the images are beautiful, they lose the excitement and innovation that make photography fun!!! Arsenii can deliver both a feast for the eyes and a feast for the brain. This set of photos of @jfirstman is one of those examples. Arsenii's team is small but mighty, extremely talented and a well-oiled machine. Jordan was such a joy to work with—he was down for anything, even lying on the ground on top of our whimsical chalk art set on his nice suit!. As I reflect on my twenties, it’s hard not to feel the weight of it all. But when I sit with it a little longer, I mostly feel lucky. Lucky to have started this decade with the friends I did, and even luckier to be ending it with the same ones plus a few more I’ll carry forever. Lucky to have had my heart broken, because it means love once lived there. Lucky to have siblings I’ve met lifetimes before and lucky to meet them here again. Lucky that my life was thrown off course more times than I’d like to admit, only to land me exactly where I’m meant to be. Lucky to feel everything so deeply (in my truest Pisces form), because the depth of the lows only proves the height of the highs. Lucky to do the work of the villager, because it means I get to have a village. Yes, parts of my twenties felt like bad luck. But there’s no rainbow without rain. I’ve felt incredibly celebrated these past few days. Love has poured in from every direction, and while I’m endlessly grateful, it also feels like proof of a life I’ve always indented. Something to rejoice in on the cloudy days. I’ve grown and shed, lost and gained, only to arrive right where I’m supposed to be. I hope I never stop becoming, because becoming is the whole point.
