What a freaking day!!!

The swim was so intimidating and then ended up being super freaking awesome! The bike was challenging but so much fun! And then the run… the run was brutal! I had a horrible pain in my left lower leg and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to run at all. I wasn’t able to flex my foot because of the pain so I was dragging my leg along for a good portion of the course.

I cried SO MANY TIMES on the run.

There were tears of frustration from being in the LITERAL back of the pack once again. Also tears of frustration from the pain in my leg not allowing me to push as hard as I was anticipating.

From little league softball all the way to the ncaa women’s national championship basketball game (twice 😉), I’m forever grateful for all the places sport has taken me. Women belong in sports, and we’re here to stay 🫶 Happy National Girls & Women in Sports Day!

It’s been a privilege to be a part of the Hawkeye family for the past 24 years. Lisa, Jan, and I had big dreams of filling arenas and hoisting trophies when we first stepped on to campus. Because of the women that came through our program and our Hawkeye community, those dreams became our reality. Retiring is bittersweet, but I know I’m one of the few people that can say they had the honor of working alongside their best friends for 32 years. I’m forever grateful for all the memories I’ve made and the people I’ve met along the way.

Sports have been many things to me throughout my life. I am so grateful for all the people, memories and opportunities; and excited to continue working for the girls and women in sport. #ngwsd.

Kalona Fun Days 5K honoring Tina Hershberger was an absolute BLAST!! It was a beautiful morning and the kids loved being with us (for the most part 🤪)
