The older I get, the more I find myself reflecting—not only on the successes and failures along the way, but on the people who helped me get there. This photo was taken in 2016 at the James Beard House, during what remains one of the proudest moments of my career. Looking back at it today reminds me that no accomplishment is ever truly achieved alone. To Chef Jane Melick and the late Chef Juan, my brother—thank you for your guidance, your support, and for believing in me all those years ago. The lessons you taught me went far beyond the kitchen and helped shape the chef and person I am today. I would not be where I am without you both. Forever grateful.
